I'd love one. Especially now I know they p*ss 60 in 2nd due to the increased rev range.

Deffo up there with the 22B imo, probably far better. I can imagine the Hawk version in white would turn more heads.

You seem to be getting the GC8 images sorted finally
You just need an accurate timeline for the GDs

It's **** Steve. Shame they don't get the recognition the 22B gets outside of Subaru circles. Should be up there with the Escort Cosworth for esteem imo but I guess there isn't much to visually separate them from any other Scoob. Hidden gem I guess.

TY for the help! It's hard, I've decided to lump the wagons and editions like the 'TYPE R Signature' into one model year or it'd really get daft!

I'm getting stuff like when viewing multiple timeline website for 1 years model.

v-limited
type r
type r 555
type r signature
type r limited
type ra
type ra limited
type ra v-limited

I was going to list obvious choices in cliched way, but you always get people saying the 3 door editions are best or the lightweight early editions are the best, it's really tough.

There is no such car as a "type r 555" or a "type r signature".
All the JDM cars can be identified by the model code & option code. It's really not rocket science if you have the correct info

Matt, define "best"....

The 22B is obviously the most iconic and valuable impreza of all, but does that make it the best ? It's certainly not the best to drive for instance.

Pointless thread.

Just had a quick scan around the net, seems to be a normal brochure colour variant that is often mistaken for a special edition!

Probably created to help with resale value.

Or misinformation written by people who didn't bother to find out the correct information
The first Type R was available in 3 "solid colours" 74F, 230, & 518. All 3 colours were "made to order"

Beauty, power, speed, depreciation/appreciation, iconic, durability, exclusivity, handling, reputation outside Subaru circles, desirability, interior, nurtured longevity.

There are a few reasons why I'd prefer a different Impreza over the 22B but I know in my heart it'd never have the wow factor of a 22B.

It's why the Nissan GTR is the greatest Jap car imo, it turns heads, it's recognizable as a great car to people of most ages. It has styling features that scream GTR, such as the unmistakable circular rear lights. The 22B has similar traits.

I had a white MY97 Version 3 STi Type R 555 Limited, had 555 on the seats and some sort of badge on the back to do with the WRC , it was advertised as a 555 limited, didnt have a roof flap like the v-limited, could have been just a normal STi type R, but have seen the same model in yellow advertised as a 555 limited usually on the Version 3 models!!

I didnt put Version 3 WRX Type R on the list, I started with MY98 Version 4.

See this thread is a perfect reflection of this forum, there's so much inaccuracy in this thread and list, it's embarrassing.
Meanwhile...... they've had the Impreza timeline over on type RA forum for years, it's accurate, informative and interesting. Everything that this thread isn't!
Do you why??? Because the forum is run by enthusiasts for enthusiasts, the members don't post up a load of garbage and don't fight and fallout constantly, over the same things like on here.
Had the same thread gone up over on type RA, it would have been a whole different ball game, certainly written better, with a lot more accuracy and would have been a pleasure to read.
As stated, this thread does a great job of reflecting the mentality of this forum

What chance do newbies have when the forums own members don't have a clue about the brand
