I would 100% go for the Jdm why because I have one lol (hawk T20). In all honesty I have never been in the 2.5 but did have a 2.0 bug sti at one point. What i like about the jdm is that it is very smooth going through the gear and when its on full chat it sounds the nuts!! Think I have had mine about 3 years now and it hasn't missed a beat regular services etc and it should all be fine.

They can take an absolute thrashing too and I dont find myself looking at the engine temp gauge so knowing the Jdm's are very reliable it does give me piece of mind.

I see you local to me and if it does help I can always take you out for a quick blast in mine if that's any help to you? Would have to be after xmas though as im off on holidays this weekend.

Greg
Thank you for all the info guys really appreciate it really do.

Hi Greg thanx for the offer sounds a plan.

I live in Newport sadly haha. Yourself?

Ok sounds a plan thanks mate.

I'm going to Cheshire tomorrow anyway so I'm going to stop off at Cheshire Performance and have a look and see what the car is like and what they are like and go from there. I'm leaving the Docs for the Golf at home so I don't make any harsh decisions.

Thanks for all your input guys really appreciated. Anything I should look out for as its supposedly had the forged rebuild? receipt is 1 I'm guessing haha

Not a million miles away then i'm about 10 mins out of Cardiff Pontypridd.

OOOOOooo if it was me and my money I wouldn't be buying from them, they have shafted so many people guys on here included! Don't get me wrong the car your interested in might be a good one but be prepared if its not and things go wrong the warranty wont be worth the paper its written on.

Ideally it would be a good idea if you had someone going with you that knows their stuff about subaru's or at least pay for an AA inspection 100bucks be well worth it if you are considering buying from a place like that.

Ahh not far then mate just up the M4.

I know what your saying, just in there so I thought why not pop in and have a look even if it's just for a test drive.

Yes taking someone with me would be ideal, I'm ok with spoting the obvious and I'm very very fussy so if there is something that don't look right I will find it or hear it haha.

The Twinscroll that's for sale is only up the Road in Cwmbran so might be worth a look up there when I'm back Monday.

Will miss all the creature comforts, Heated seats, Dyna Audio, touch screen nav etc etc hahaha but I'm excited for the Roar and the feeling of a proper car again. After spending a few £££ on my S3 and geting it to 371bhp I have the power and tuning bug 🙈

Has to be the 2.0 jdm t/s. ✅

Having had an expensive built 2.5 shat itself after a gentle 40k I'd never do it again.

The JDM is without doubt the wise choice ....

Nobody mentioned the road tax issue ? To add to the head fail worries of the 2.5.
I have a 2007 jdm and choose it over built 2.5 as the road tax over half the cost of the U.K. 2.5
I know of forged well built 2.5s that have great bottom ends but still failed on head gaskets after mileage.
What's the reason for the extra .5 torque?
With the 8k revs on jdm there's little in it IMO.

2005 to early 2006 hawks have the cheap road tax as well, totally agree about the head gaskets though, i'm on my second one after 60,000 miles.

How much tax on the 05 to 06 uk cars ? Jdm classed by engine size and not co2 are they cheaper still ?

oh ok my jdm is £230 for a 2007 so for uk depends on model year 🤔 So if you want newer than 2005 deffo jdm cheaper tax wise 😉

As a JDM twin scroll owner, I'd still rather have a well built 2.5. Infact, it's something I'm considering on my own car, a 2.5 twin scroll - now that would be fun!

No experience with the 2.5 but plenty with the JDM 2.0 Twin Scroll. I,ve done 30,000 miles in the JDM with no problems, great engine with little or no lag. Steve.
