I've actually got a pack of 250 "heavy duty" poo bags that I bought online when I first took him home. He is very lucky because we have recently switched his feed from dry kibble dog food to complete raw food supplied by Wolf Tucker. Raw food is meant to be the very very best for a canine as it's what their digestive system is designed to digest. The poo's are meant to come out the size of cat poo's which is a bonus. He's been on raw food for a few days now and I doubt we'll ever switch back. It is more expensive but we think it'll be worth it in the long run.

We don't see that this end so much, nor do we see a poo cake left on the round to cut it by walking into it and celebrate our birthday. But last year I saw a woman pushing a pram with 3 kids and a dog with her, in Wepre Park. She let her dog poo in our way, and didn't pick it at all. We had our well-behaved Staffie with us, whose poo we pick religiously. We were very annoyed. We couldn't say anything to the woman as she had a face like thunder and she seemed bogged down with her kids. We picked her dog's poo and and chucked it in the relevant bin.

L, glad you've got nice poo bags in for Theo. My lad gets scented ones on line from somewhere.

Sainsburys scented nappy sacks are the way to go for dog poo bags. 80p roughly for 75 bags and I specify Sainsburys ones as I have tried others and they are hopelessly thin or too small and don't ever buy Tescos ones unless you want dog **** on your hands.

As for bags being hung on tress I find that disgusting.

He's a lovely wee dog, but I suspect he'll not be that wee for much longer.

Make sure and keep posting updates as he grows please

We have always fed our Stan raw...

Make sure you also supplement with the other things he needs in his diet...

It works out about £1.20 a day for him to eat raw, very cost effective....He also has seaweed, coconut, egg and fish oil... Chicken carcass/wings twice a week.

Oh BTW the turd thing is a myth, they still come out like walking sticks, but they dont smell as much as when feeding the mass produced dog food.

Some people hang the bags on trees because the bags are made from plastic that disintegrates when they get wet, they hang it so small kids can't reach it while it's still wet and fresh.

I'm in the train your dog to poo in the bushes camp.

Looks like a nice bright dog you have there.

I don't let anyone outside of close friends or my neighbour near mine (Cane Corso) and then only for a sniff.

With him being on a farm, I suggest if you can't whistle loudly that you buy a whistle and train him for a long distance recall, because he'll start to get curious, and as he becomes aware of his ***** he'll start to wonder off.

I don't pen mine in, he's free to roam because he's not much use as a guard dog if he's locked away.

He's looking good. He's retaining some of his baby cuteness, which will soon vanish as well. Just like it happens with humans. Then he will be more a magnificent adult dog than a cuddly toy. That doesn't always happen in humans.

Yes he's on a 100% BARF diet and we intend to keep him on it for the rest of his life. I wish the breeders told me more about the real importance of being careful not to over exercise him. I don't think this is touched on enough on the internet either.

He's looking great. I pick my new addition up Tuesday, not a GSD but a GSP.

The breeder isn't pleased as i'm refusing to raw feed and keeping to complete kibble diet which both my labs are on.

I can understand why they arenot pleased. Whywould you feed something completely un natural? The difference in my pup is night and day between kibble and raw. Wouldn't ever feed kibble to anything now

Because in 40+ years of being around pedigree dogs not one has ever been fed raw. My bitch Lab who I bred from was hipscored at 2/3 and has been on kibble since weaned and so this belief that anything other than raw feed ruins hips is nonsense in my experience. Why on Earth would I want to feed something that is disgusting to look at and smells offensive and comes out even worse when a complete kibble food has none of those downsides and no disadvantages to health that I have seen? I'll take a hip score of 2/3 on feeding kibble.

What is important and has already been touched on is the amount of exercise given. Before 6 months of age at least (but ideally until it's a year old) it should be heavily restricted and i've always kept to the 5 minutes for every month of age rule for planned exercise.
