THAT viral dress... blue and black or white and gold? Come on then...
When I first saw this the other day I was Blue and Gold straight away, then you hear that isn't even one of the options but yet no matter how many times I view it on several devices and it still looks blue and gold !!

Mind I do suffer with colour deficiency, seems quite badly

I'm pretty badly colourblind, so i am told by the opticians. White and gold is what I, apparently, see. Saying that, we all have different colour perceptions based on light that is bouncing off an object, so:
a) it could be your screens
b) it could be your way of seeing certain colours in certain light conditions
c) you could just be a freak like me and everything looks weird
d) all of the above
e) you really don't give a crap
f) you think it's blue and black and you should be feminised immediately

Are you guys still discussing that hideous dress???

Anyway, it's making me curious as well now why people see it in different shades, tbh.
Come on, who wants to volunteer for the copy&paste king
job, to find the explanation of this phenomenon? Please stick it here so that we know what the F is making us see it in different colours.

As I said viewed it on several devices in natural and artificial light and it looks blue and gold all be it not the dark blue I believe some see.
Like you I have pretty bad colour deficiency, last time I was tested I was definitely Red Green but I also have trouble with blues and yellows (Separate test for that one and much rarer) Never been tested for that as I failed entrance test into RAF as a fighter pilot due to red green deficiency

Caused a few problems down the years, several jobs I couldn't go for and quite a few electric shocks when messing with old style wiring

But I managed to complete a HND in Electronic and Electrical engineering with distinction after being allowed special dispensation to use test equipment in exams as I couldn't see the colour codes on components.
