I saw that video last year again it is intolerance of the driver to obey the law and give way to the cyclist. Cyclist then escalates the whole issue where in the end a fight breaks out. Driver should of been charged for assault, cyclist needs a talking to aswell.

Do not enter the ASL box when the light is red – this space is reserved for the safety of cyclists.
Crossing the first or second ASL line when the light is red makes you liable for a Ł100 fixed penalty, three points on your licence, and endangers vulnerable road users.
If the traffic light changes from green to amber and you cannot safely stop before the first stop line, you may cross the line but must stop before the second stop line (Highway Code rule 178)
So clearly the car was in the wrong, contrary to your and other peoples assertions
Regardless what happens next - lets just get the FACTS right

Do you know whether the bikes cutting up the inside of the cars to get to the box are also breaking the law? Obviously two wrongs wouldn't make a right and IMO the car was the one who started it. (And finished it

I think what is becoming clear from these videos is that in the cities and London in particular it is becoming a war between some drivers of combustion engined vehicles and some cyclists.
For a long time I think the cyclists feel they have had a rough deal and now armed with head cams and the power of the net they can fight back to an extent. Before if they went to the police they had their words against another drivers, now they have it on camera.
However like all these things there are a few who take it too far and there are a small minority of cyclists out there definitely looking for trouble. They have YouTube channels or websites literally littered with what they consider major incidents of drivers putting them in danger and they are publishing their details and the evidence for all to see.
When you watch them back most of them are pretty innocuous, not perfect I grant you, but not the end of the world either. I would be suspicious of any cyclist that has a YouTube channel or website where they have published hundreds of videos like this as there is clearly some psychological issues manifesting themselves in there somewhere.
My mate is a truck driver and has a dash cam, he has seen a few things that defy belief from cyclists especially in the cities but at no time has he felt compelled to open a YouTube channel and 'out' them for their heinous crimes.
To me it's all part of the downward spiral of this country. People don't care about anything including the rules of the road and the level of aggression on the road is becoming very dangerous.
In the case of this video I would suggest that the cyclist and the car driver both have serious anger management issues. If the cyclist is prepared to lose his temper like that over something fairly 'weak' what's he like with things that are a little more serious. As for the car driver... well physical assault can carry a jail term so he needs help too. Bloody crazy really over such a small incident!

Looks like Audiman could been prosecuted ( before the fisticuffs)
This is the rat race for you i guess, but can you imagine how long the cyclist would have survived in other parts of the world

Good post
Too many people out there think they're more important and in more of a hurry than the next man, no patience what so ever.

Cyclists are allowed to pass on either side of slow vehicles, it is classed as filtering. Passing on either side of vehicles has inherent dangers, I only do it when I have plenty of room and the vehicle driver knows I am there.
If I remember correctly this incident is about a year old (maybe more). So it's not getting a bigger problem as this one precedes several other incidents that have happened since.
Driver was prosecuted (don't remember the outcome/sentance), so in the eyes of the law he was in the wrong, not the cyclist.
I think incidents like this happen regardless of the mode of transport - road rage. Further it's threads like this (with "he got what he deserved" responses) that further drive a wedge between cyclists and drivers. Regardless of the mode of transport blaming cycling/cyclists in general is wrong. They are both idiots, but please try and practice tolerance, on threads like this yes, but particularly if you are considerate driver then you'll never get in this situation. Leave them to have their fights in the street, just leave the "all cyclists are bad" comments out of it.

I am just amazed at posters basic lack of road law - leading to post rubbish like
"The car driver did nothing wrong"
Whatever happened was initiated by the car driver, that is not opinion just simple FACT
Sure the cyclist escalated it, - and is probably a ****
But a wider point is, when is it acceptable to tell someone to stop who is wilfully breaking the law
If someone lights a cigaret in a cafe/pub - should people expect a slap if they point out that it is illegal and ask them to stop
What sort of society does that lead too?

Incident happened on 23rd January 2014.
Cyclist lodged a charge of assault.
Police were trying to trace passenger in Audi as it was he who assaulted the cyclist, but failed I believe.
Mind you who knows as the media don't have a good reputation for getting things right.
Police also questioned the behaviour of the cyclist who claims it was just a red mist that descends on all of us from time to time.

Hmmmm, as I said both parties need some anger management counselling and a spell walking or using public transport IMO!

Have to say when you look around YouTube it's amazing just how many of these incidents occur in London. I guess it's once again indicative of the sort of people who live in London! It seems to have more than its fair share of arrogant w4nkers as I have noticed on here
The Police have missed this, just think how much revenue this could generate.

Car driver totally in the wrong by moving his car into the box.
What we have is a **** in an Audi.
But we also have a dumb cyclist who whilst quite rightly getting irked by the **** in the Audi shoudl really appreciate that life is too short.
Having said that if some **** in an Audi did that to me, I'd probably have questioned his actions too. Doubt I'd have chased him though - no point.
Some of you on here need to learn the highway code
Driving in London, rather like certain other aspects of London, is a somewhat unique case.
In this instance the driver was overly aggressive with his positioning and did set it all off, but I have an element of sympathy with this until all the aggro kicks off. There's no excuse for that nonsence, but then again perhaps that cyclist (who was a hampton) paid the price for all the others that got under that driver's skin.
Dependent on time and location I will sometimes poke my nose into the box to limit the number of cyclists that can get in there. Around EC1 at 8am if you don't then sometimes they'll be four deep in front of you and two deep on both sides. This is totally ridiculous because when the lights go they are all over the shop and you are tripping over them for the next 150 metres as they weave all over the place.
No problem at all with the motorcycles, lights change and they go ahead.

I've done plenty in a car, in a van, on a motorcycle and some in a 7.5 tonner.
The awareness of a lot of the drivers is certainly higher than in many other places (not quite the same as Rome, mind) due to the hectic nature.
Go back a few years and the issues with cyclists was acceptable, give and take. Now there are so many in certain areas that they are a bloody nuisance, they are far and away the biggest culprits as regards road traffic contraventions.
I don't live in London and would never consider it.
How much time do you spend driving in London?

I am sure the cycle boxes are positioned across the width of the road to slow down the vehicles stuck behind and to significantly reduce the number of vehicles able to pass through the junction in the short period of green and that in part is deliberately done to create friction between cyclists and motorists
Like the new design for the embankment it is always the motorist that has to give up road space for cyclists yet in many area’s there is wide empty pavements

Having watched a few of these types of vids on SN threads youtube now thinks l like them so suggest them regularly, here's a good one for the "l hate cyclists" brigade. (That's me too
