Cars on the road. Just back from a road test. Taking it to work tomorrow.
Torsen diff is good, fairly locks the power front to rear, even on overrun, I had the back end come round inadvertently! Oops.
6th is unbelievably tall, think only motorway use! Maybe on a straight with the wind behind you! Which is excellent because it means 1st-5th are the same as my old 5 speed box, cracking ratios

I'm sure youll get to the bottom of the speedo minor issue, I'm a big fan of trying things out and a bit of trial and error.

Put some optimax in the car today and also went shopping with my 1 year old in it. Seems to be working.

I have covered about 100 miles now, a few tiny teething probs, had to shorten one driveshaft as the CV joint was binding under hard cornering, also I need to move the pivot point in the clutch pedal to get a wee bit more stroke out of the slave, minor issues.
Started making a pitch stop, but I'm having to respray the front end of a mates car first.
Speedo seems to be behaving itself, may not need to put an external sensor/ring on it.

Just finished modding the clutch pedal, the problem before was that it wasn't clearing properly and the pedal biting point was 1/2" from the floor, not good.
Just re drilled the pedal 12mm further down resulting in a near halfway biting point (factory id say) and now have good clearance on the clutch, still at work so yet to road test it properly. But started the car at put it in gear, lifted the clutch a few times.
Also made a hybrid gear gaitor/**** setup using the impreza leather gaitor and audi ****, looks much better now, and should keep a bit more noise out.

Small update, more than 500miles on this conversion now.
Sorted a small gear linkage interference problem, shifts into reverse and second perfectly now, other gears were always good.
Speedo wires hard soldered into the loom and the intermittent flickering of the speedo needle I was getting above 60mph has completely gone.
Checked speed with sat-nav, spot on (more luck than judgement).
Tried a good launch and broke a rear driveshaft right beside the weld (heat effected zone) the other side looks like it's taken a small twist. So temporarily welded it back together and have set about machining new shafts (no welding this time)
Using a VAG shaft and re-machining the splines on te other end to suit subaru fitment.
Only doing the back just now, this is where the main problem is just now.

Glad the build has gone so well, there's always a bit on ironing out to do once on the open road, i'm sure the vag shafts will do the trick

Little update, box still going strong and over 2000 miles on it now. Have made billet rear shafts and will be making front ones the same on Monday.

Very impressive stuff there. Would be a viable option for many if drawings were available for the adaptor pate and flywheel.

VAG boxes are renowned for their strength and durability and are used on many conversions. Just didn't think a scooby would be one of them. Lol

Thanks, you must remember there is a lot more to it than a flywheel and adaptor plate, gearbox mounts and driveshafts need made, rear crossmember and exhaust need modified, speedo and gear linkage need work, it's quite an undertaking even if you had drawings.
But yes VAG boxes are usually strong (if you pick the correct ones) and it seems to be a logical conversion for me!

10,000 miles on this conversion now, recently upgraded to an RS4 organic clutch and another bespoke flywheel, the first flywheel and clutch is for sale in the car parts section very cheap, along with some other bits and bobs.
