I can appreciate smart watches but they're not for me. I believe a watch should have no battery or circuit boards inside them. I like mine to be mechanical and full of cogs etc .

There are hundreds of fantastic uses, but if you lack imagination then yes, it's just a watch.
get a £20 smartwatch on ebay, may not be as nice looking as the apple but does everything it does (probably has the same internals as it's from China). Felt like Michael Knight on the 1 occasion I actually used it to speak with the mrs (also felt like a dick). Stick with my note 4 for all the sensors I need

It has an excellent compass and altimeter and very good service. Can you recommend one that's better for the money?

I'll be paying under £350, people really are confused on the pricing, have a look at Apple.com it's a very nice site.

It's going to be great for flying paragliders, airspace alerts will be fantastic, no need to take my eyes of the ball.

Think back a few years, the exact same was said about the iPhone, people went mental on here trying to say it was a waste of money, no one needs it, where's the keyboard. Now try to buy a mobile device that doesn't owe it's existence to the iPhone and you'll struggle.

And how much do you really think it costs Rolex to physically make a £6,000 watch that only tells the time?

Or any other manufacturer for that matter.

£150 casio G shocks cost about £3 to make.

R&D costs, on the other hand, need to be recovered and they will be significant.

I still feel the stainless models are too expensive. Had the stainless/sapphire model started at £299 that would have made more sense.

The one I'd want is nearly £900 F*ck that...

IMO this kind of technology is a waste of time until battery technology has caught up.
Oh, really? That's rubbish! No matter how much I like Apple stuff, I'm not going to have this watch now. I'm happy with the one that ticks on by itself for at least two years, and then it may need its battery replacing.

Thanks for pointing that out.

It lasts 72 hours as a watch, 18 hours is using it to make calls, listen to music, track your heart rate and movement, read your email, send messages, send an animated picture of a ***** to your mate and other stuff.

Now, if you're doing all those, every day, you'll need to charge it every 18 hours on average and honestly, if you like it that much that you use it that much then I don't think snapping a charger onto it for 1 or 2 hours would be that much of a drag.

I'm not even awake for 18 hours a day.

Those times as stated by Apple are lab condition testing, ie, ideal/best case scenario/environment. For example, Apple state that I can get from my iPhone 5 10 hours of talk time, 10 hours internet use on 4G or 8 hours on 3G, 10 hours video playback, 40 hours audio playback or 10 days standby. In reality I'm lucky if it sees me through to the end of a full working day and get 5 hours of actual usage time before the battery dies (and that is with turning off notifications, background refresh, location services, bluetooth, airdrop and using fetch instead of push data for mail). The Watch will be the same, actual usage time in real world will vary massively and for a lot of mugs buying it will be looking more at the battery meter than the actual time!

Honestly, there's no way I am going to knock such a technologically advanced product by my favourite Apple make, but it's just that I won't like to have to charge my watch. However, it sounds so cool that I may just buy one for fun. I'll see what I do.

Such watches are also complete waste of money. If anyone justifies spending that much money on a watch, then someone buying a plastic Apple gizmo watch is as justified.

Now some may say, love metal, not plastic. Well, that's a personal choice. I don't exactly like plastic, but I will NEVER spend 6k on watch, ever! I may find it absolutely stupid to do that, but I do appreciate that we all have our obsessions.

You don't have to buy and wear one, so why do you twitch every time you hear Apple word from Apple lovers, and keep criticising their passion till the end, post after post???

I got it! You are obsessed with chasing Apple obsessed people.

No, only an idiot would believe the times Apple states for its products!! Also had the battery replaced in my iPhone 5 about 6 months ago, even with a new battery, you won't see anywhere near those times Apple claims in the real world!
