One final example before I go, the thread that this started on the other day about the my11 (can't remember his name) bumped by me because someone brought to my attention some info, I ignored at first but then after reading some other posts from the said owner I go curious. After having a nosey through some of his posts I could not believe my eyes, he has tracked the car and done it hard which involved high speed runs of 130mph plus dowñ the autoban(dont know how you spell it) and I feel that info is relevant to the thread. If someone did that in a blob they would get criticism. In fact a few threads came to mind where someone had been given a hard time for doing so in a blob.

If you dont get what I am saying then thats fair enough but it also means I am not conversing with like minded people so whats the point.
the blob issue was nothing to do with speed it was the fact he was driving hard with no remap for mods despite being told not too, another case of having half the info as usual

No I do get what you are saying, but at the end of the day people got used to tracking their Scoobs in 90s and 2000s and then all of a sudden we have an engine that no matter how you look at it is not as robust.

I don't even think that is the issue though... it's the way Subaru or IM in the UK have treated customers over it. The USA got a recall on the same engine, we get a reluctant remap and dealers trying everything to wriggle out of any responsibility.

It's not good enough and ironically has led to these very threads as Subaru/IM appear to have been not very forthcoming with the number of cars suffering issues!

I really think if they had taken it on the chin and sorted it out when the problem first emerged we wouldn't be where we are today and more importantly neither would they!

Chris I've been on the A Class forum for a few months and seen all the issues etc but it never put me off one bit. Mercedes and AMG will stand by their product and sort things out so if the turbo in our car goes **** up (which I hope it doesn't) I'll just get them to stick a new one in.

I see you're trying to be helpful but it really isn't the end of the world and if people want to know about the A45 they can just mosey on over to the other forum and read all about it

Chris - why has the A45 got under your skin?
Did one burn you off in race mode or were you rejected for the MB finance application?

WTF i nearly fell over when i saw this, Man we must have hit a nerve with you Chris.

Nice Post.

So i agree some journos dont like it compared to the R or megane 265, but i dont take what a journo says, i could spend another week and give you all the positive reviews as a counter attack but i wont..ive got games to play and kids to feed.

You seem to forget ive owned a NEW scooby for over 6 years WRX-S and STI 320R, they didnt let me down, but times change and Subaru are behind the times. The engine the largest most expensive thing in a car is a lemon, if you want to gamble with it, and yes you are gambling then your free to do so, and a forum is free speech.

I myself dont even take a car to anywhere near 50% of its ability probably like most on this forum including yourself. but i,ll repeat again 465 a year road tax, low 20 MPG and a lemon engine put me off hence why i changed the mark.

And guess what i didnt buy it because its AMG, i bought it because its the worlds most powerful 2L series production engine ever, and i liked the way it drove and looked, the S3 and R like many people who have test drove them leave you feeling deflated and unexcited, maybe because we were all driving 300BHP cars before, only the 200BHP boys will ever say they fly....cos its an upgrade..journos aside they were boring.

Matts M135 in my view is the best out of that Bunch.

Anyway im now running 414BHP and the cars a differing beast Unbelievable change, i have a little wheel i can play with and can if i run race Fuel or 102Ron push the Limits to 435BHP, the turbo will never go past 2 Bar for safety, stock is 1.8 im running 1.86 and the change is amazing for .8 of a nugget......

Lets get onto customer service, I have never been treated so nicely than i get at MB , some of the guys who try Aberdeen have been looked at like dog ****, but that dealers a nasty one, the rest have had a good service.

Now lets look at Subaru, in my 6 years of owning i had very good treatment from S&S services in Ayr shame its 230 miles from me, and MKAR in rochdale right before they went bang.

RN goldens in Huddersfield was OK but kinda snotty, hence why they lost the contract and its now with Appleyards who sell all cars and Subaru is an after thought.

The Subaru dealers are slowly on the decline and the good ones like crossroads etc are hard to find.... It always felt like it was a side line the Subaru dealers i used...
anyway enjoy your scooby and dont forget to bite ya lip when ya tax is due...

The way Subaru have treated this engine issue to the point of being sued has destroyed my allegiance with them, unless their next release is something special then i,ll be looking elsewhere, and with the way VAG/BMW and MB are going at the moment i think Subaru have an uphill battle.

Anyway X-Factors on and Cheryl Cole Gibber.....

I found RN Goldens to be very good in service and customer care. Did you deal with Lee the service manager?

How utterly bizarre.

I STILL haven't seen an A45 yet!
After five weeks of driving our 2.7 tonne diesel van across Europe (awesome fun in anon driving way), the blast to Winchester and back in the BM was heaven!

Still amazed at these new hyper hatches be it the A45, Golf R or our M135i.

Putting up a post just to sl4g a car you don't own is beyond pathetic.

Bloody awful things those A45, bottom end AMG cars though so I would expect a fail rate to be honest.

Having a A45 is like winning a ticket to watch the oscars, your there but no one really wants you there, but you sit there with your head held high flashing your ticket

Whereas in comparison having an Impreza is like watching the Oscars on a black and white portable telly perched atop some milk crates next to a well used blazing brazier on a cold November evening with an array of undesirables crowded round with you whilst you indulge in drinking cheap lager or smoking illegal cigarettes on a sh1tty sink estate somewhere in a bad part of East London. Just saying

Think it had a black line type sticker at bottom sill and rear roof spoiler, looked nice.

LOL you bet me too it....

Its AMG end of, don't think AMG would risk their pedigree making a cut and shut do you Devil ?

But as I said above I didn't buy it because its AMG far from it, AMG didn't even play a part in my choosing. The fact of matter was I wanted a faster car, that cost me less to run.

Give me some options that tick these boxes then cos I struggled.

35 + MPG ( lets not debate it, but I get this + on my consultancy trips )
Sub 200 RD TAX
Sub 5 seconds 0-60
300+ BHP

No I don't think they would risk there pedigree, I'm sure it's a lovely engine, but it is what the boxster is to Porsche, the entry level for the dreamers to get in

But as you said it offers:

Everything that a true AMG owner wouldn't need to look at as they buy an AMG for what it is, not for what it would cost them to run

You're not getting it are you? Times move on. Imprezas and cars like my AMG are yesterday's heroes. With fuel being so expensive even performance car owners look to the economy of their vehicles and the manufacturers are responding.

Smaller displacement petrol turbo'd engines are the immediate way forward and what the likes of VW, Mercedes and BMW are doing now in terms of bang for buck was only a dream even a decade ago.... which brings us nicely back to Subaru as their engine technology is about a decade old.... which is ultimately why they maybe cheaper to buy, but are a lot more expensive to run.... before we even factor in the 2.5 issue!

Times are a changing ..... we all have to accept it.

Quick Reply: A45 AMG, some issues.
