I'm not sure what your point is about pro drivers; you have to have some way of benchmarking performance figures; surely a well trained and consistent driver is better than average joe trying to race for the first time?
F1; very nice. A shame it's still slower than a mildly warmed up blob eye WRX though
I was just saying that topgear lap time comparisons for example don't always reflect the real world with the average joe.

I should think the 250s were lighter and more agile too?
Yes I was comparing the two; in a straight line, a V8 Vantage and M135i are very close. On a track it would appear that the BM is quicker.

Great... thanks F1, off I go to PH classifieds to look at SL55's after seeing your pictures, haha.
Stunning car. Must go like an absolute missile with ~600bhp?!
Cheers,
Grant

And if you get serious about buying one PM me as I have learned a lot about these cars in the last couple of years. Oh and yes it's pretty rapid.... 0-100mph in less than 10s... brings a smile to your face for sure

Standard car in 2002 was 10.5, later cars have a wee bit more power as standard and then throw in a good few mods.... a car similar in spec to mine did it in 9.5s.
Thing is once you reach 100 the power just keeps on coming as does the speed.... it's quite mad.
That said it does weigh 1875kg so is hampered by that weight to some extent handling wise despite the active suspension.
Interestingly it has an official Nurburgring lap time identical to that of a 2004 Impreza Spec C which given its weight is pretty impressive.

For a 4-banger - what with a silencing turbo strapped on, no less - Merc have done well in designing an exhaust system that coaxes out such a relatively sonorous/melodious sounding note.
Sounds 'more than what it is', if you get my drift.
I'm into it.

Best thing is making it bang on upshift just as you pass people, quite childish but fun

Back in the day, when I had my R5 GT turbo re-jetted/boost valve fitted by Sheppard Racing in Colchester, David offered me this sage 'advice' (paraphrased):
"When going through the town centre, turn the **** 180 degrees before booting it. The resultant misfire and flameout will make all the shoppers jump. It's good fun."

As for power I'm told like the new Sti sport gives full boost, comfort isn't full
I may be wrong but it's what was discussed in aclass forum
