A much improved performance yesterday, things certainly appear to be going in the right direction

Rojo and Fellani were linking up well on the left and Fellani kept Fabregas in his pocket the entire game which was quite impressive.

Another biggy next week, albeit against a faltering side that's now resembling Mancini's City.

Good performance, and a well deserved point in my book.

We're still weak at the back though

Agreed but they didn't look quite as disorganised as they have done

I love LVG's post match interviews, one cool dude, you'll never see him do a Keegan or a Dalglish

Fellaini was a big plus considering most if not all United fans had given up on him. Also Shaw looked more like a player and Rafael has become a consistent performer at the moment, which is a shock to us all

I'm alot happier with that performance, Courtois played very well, saying that so did De gea, imagine if Rooney had played

Glad the teams playing better just need world class defender now

Easily Fellainis best game in a Utd shirt. Di Maria was off his game and wasted on the right. RvP kept the ball well. Mata was disappointing again. Too easy to take off the ball. I thought he was a decent signing but not so sure any more. Januzaj seems to be lacking enough confidence to take players on.

He looked to have plenty of goes at taking the full back on but had neither the skill or the pace to do so!

I don't call doing a few step overs whilst stationary then cutting the ball back to Rafael or Shaw "having a go".

I still think the full back had him in his pocket regardless which is why his having a go was limited to what you suggest.

Not in this lifetime!!

Should be Pooley74 but couldn't use that name when signing up, hence poolio was born.

And yeah born in 74 and had to put up with the enemy dominating, and living off the odd FA cup.

My son is 21( born in 92) and is also a red, and has only known success. He doesn't know how to deal with it!!

Certainly 2 poor decisions that cost us the game. Also think that demichelis should have been booked for his rash tackle early on, then he would've walked for a second yellow just before city scored. Just a shame we couldn't ****** a draw late on. It wouldn't have been completely undeserved.

Absolutely. Lets hope he learns never to do it again.

Rojo must have been in agony with that shoulder, he did go in a bit reckless though

Disappointed we didn't get a point, because I thought we deserved that at least.

Shame we couldn’t get an equaliser in the last 10-15 mins when City were flagging. But we could have easily lost 2 or 3-0 as they had 2-3 strong penalty shouts and De Gea did make a string of strong saves in the first half. Again we turned off defensively for the City goal. Most dangerous man in the box is Aguero yet the two closest defenders run away from him.

Fellaini had another strong game (did I just say that). Arguably best player up there with Rooney imho. Chased the ball down, hassled the City players and held the ball well. See there are no accusations he spat at Aguero after the pen claim. Didn’t see anything sinister myself. Smalling was a silly boy – no need for that rash tackle.

I am in no way saying the ref was wrong with Smallings first yellow but why is impeding the keeper in that way a bookable offence? Ball was in play i.e. it wasn’t a goal kick. No one ever gets booked for standing in front of an opposing free kick taker to stop a quick free kick being taken – not sure I see the real difference. Several strikers have scored in similar situations where the keeper thought they could kick it around the player. Maybe I missed something else as admittedly didn’t see any of the replays.

As for LvG vs Moyes – there is no contest. Moyes was living in the aftermath of Fergies reputation meaning many teams playing Utd had lost mentally before they even stepped on the pitch. The team under Moyes was devoid of any attacking flair and ideas. Some games we were lucky to even get a shot on goal.

Well I saw the last 15mins of the 1st half and all of the 2nd half, I must have been watching a different game, because I don't think I saw Rooney or Van persie until about 20 mins into the second half, Man U looked very ordinary, not seen them play for a while and to be honest they seem a bit crap to me and deserved to lose, no ideas, no one taking players on or going for goal, passing the ball around too much at the back and loosing possession or booting it out of play, zero composure on the ball from all parties. a very sad sight indeed.

Why?

Van Gaal is far better than Moyes.

Until spend some money on some decent defensive players then going struggle.

2 proven centre backs are a must.

Very lucky with it been 1 nil and finishing with 10 men. City should had least 2 penos

Yes, I'm sure we'll get some defenders in January transfer window.

City weren't all that and I stick by the thought I had the day Chelsea signed Fabregas and Costa, they've pi$$ed the league.

City have as much chance as United and Liverpool of winning anything this season, f*ck all

No.
United are in rebuild phase, and he's the man for the job.
We now have a team that once again plays attacking enjoyable football.
Yes, we have problems at the back, but that will be addressed.
He's managed to get Fellaini playing too.
Moyes was always negative in my book, and just look at the training methods that were supposedly being used.
Hours upon hours of defensive tactics!

Now the background of Moyes, what had he done in the past - not a lot, but he offered consistency.
Look at Van Gaal's history, so based on that you know things will improve, and you can see improvements too.

I believe United would have won that game on Sunday, had we stayed with 11 on the pitch.

From a neutral point of view, I like Van Gaal. His post match analysis is honest and frank. He never sounds that articulate but at least he doesn't blame refs, the direction of the grass blades or FA conspiracies for losses. I think going down 1-0 to a very strong team with only ten on the field for most of it and having a good go back was a decent result. We went up there and got stuffed. Again!
