Completely off thread, but you weren't using it on a soft surface (such as a quilt or cushion) were you?
You'd be surprised how many I've seen that got ruined like that because people don't realise that the heat sink is underneath the machine and the 'legs', though very small, are to allow the air to escape/circulate.

Macs are like Mercs and BM's, very good, well engineered and they do everything for you.

So are JD motorsport and Impreza Parts not the same people trading from the same place then?

Happy to copy/paste comments from facebook for all those who dont have access, will take me a while tho.

Of course the administrator's need to look to see if any wrong doing has occurred but there's a right way and a wrong way to do it. The op and scooblet IMO are looking for blood and things need to be dealt with some level of sensitivity to ensure a trader is not unfairly punished.

So, how difficult/easy would it be for an aggrieved member to email a mod or specified person to notify them that they are going to post a bad review?
Rules (could) state that the seller must be informed and that both parties must abide by the rules.
Then get on with it.

Stops this sort of thing because everyone would know that the post has been allowed, that the seller has been pre-warned and we wouldn't have anyone bushwacked.

I've bought from JD Motorsports in Carlisle before. I've bought front calipers, pads and discs for 2 separate Scooby's. They took their time with the postage, longer than I would normally expect but I received the items in the end on both occasions.

Ergo this is one for Stu and IB to deal with as I am sure they will as Lisa will have passed this thread's details to them!

Not having a go at you, just making sure you understand the distinction between moderators and admins!
I thought that I would have avoided such a post by explaining that it was just a joke. I do however understand the differences between moderator's and admin but to insinuate its just for the admin to resolve seems to be overlooking the fact that the original thread was removed last night, probably by Lisa. I think that Lisa always handles things beautifully and were very lucky to have her time but she can and does have a direct influence in such matters.

There's a lesson here (well a lesson that's been said time and again on SN).

Keep the buyer informed.

'I/we have received your order and expect to despatch it within x working days'.

'Sorry, but due to a problem despatch will now be before ddmmyy'.

This sort of thing will at least prevent frustration becoming annoyance, and annoyance becoming anger, and anger becoming a thread...... etc. etc.

I've seen small businesses expand so quickly that they're unable to cope.
If there's too much business to cope with (and you still want to keep your main job) then hire someone, and even somewhere.

Profit might dip in the short-term but it will then shoot up without any more outlay.

Make a profit of, say, £100 a week.
Too much work, failures to deliver, bad reviews and your profit all but disappears.
Pay someone £50 to do a half-day twice a week (to stop the orders piling up) and you get good reviews, business booms and before you know it you're making £150 a week.

Excellent post.

I think the main problem with them, from what I've read is that people are handing over large sums of money, say over £100 and then when parts dont arrive it is taking an eternity to get a refund, in most cases weeks and for a few its been up to 6 months.

I spoke to well known breaker on here who told me he gets regular calls from them because they have taken money for a part they dont have and does he have it and that is bad practice.

Last night a girl posted that she'd bought 2 small items off them with no problems, then handed over £350 for an ecu and has recieved nothing, not even a message like you've mentioned above.

Some quotes from the post on facebook which has 80+ comments

Lucy Millard - I really hope I'm proved wrong and am either refunded of get the ECU I paid for. I have bought a few bits off them with no bother so trusted them to send £350 but same as lee Lee Hall I got excuse after excuse. I asked for the tracking number a few times and the request was ignored / overlooked. Had he provided this (as he said it was sent via tracked delivery) he could have proved his innocents. I know I would be providing the number to show the blame didn't lay with me?

Lee Hall He's been at it for ages, a few threads on snet. Bought a legacy down pipe off them which arrived ( but I hadn't unpacked) then a set of legacy morettes. When I unpacked the down pipes they were rotten and went to the scrappy, the morettes never arrived fobbed off with excus after excuse (same ones which are still being used, bad courier, wrong postage paid etc etc) took over 6 months to get a refund! They need to be shut down, really don't see how they can still be going

Ryan Hawkins I'm still waiting for some plugs for the newage coils I bought to do conversion to my v2 that was about 2 months + lol apparently they are hard to get hold of hmmm with all of the imprezas bring broke. Now he's paid for some from

Jason Jay Pollitt I ordered injectors and fuel pump, he said the injectors will arrive after 3 days or say it turned into a week and the pump wasn't anywhere to be seen, I hounded him for weeks until he said he'd refund me.

Dave Keen He ripped me off for box after weeks off moaning I got a replacment even then reverse is noisey as **** ban him

Ste Hunter Iv orderd a bonnet off him still hasn't come after a month

What happens on FB is nothing to do with Scoobynet, so you shouldn't really be copying stuff from there onto here. Copy a link to the page, but, not peoples comments and real names.

Stu is on FB, so he'd be able to read them for himself, should he choose to.

I'm not admin.

Thank you Chris (F1) for clearing it up, and Chris number 2, I didn't take it to heart, I had a feeling you were sort of joking.

Unfortunately Chris is right though, when it comes to traders, it really is up to Admin what happens to them. This has all been brought up before and while I would love to wave a magic wand and sort everything out, all I am able to do is link this thread and pass it on for those higher up than me to decide upon. Rest assured I have done this.

As a side note, LWC, I will hold my hands up that yes, I have been using my laptop on a soft surface. I always have done but I think the warm weather and how hot it gets anyway was just a bit too much for it last night. I really do need to get something to rest it on.

Well, seems like this thread has a silver lining

PS how much work you make the poor old processor do makes a huge difference. It can amble along (browsing etc) quite nicely but give it an Excel spreadsheet or any power-hungry app and you wouldn't believe how excited it gets, increasing the inside temp dramatically.
(And no, I won't ask what you were using it for...............)

I only browse. Just here, a bit of facebook (games, but not for long) and that's about it. I don't do any actual real work on it. Well, no more than some e-mails, but that's not really work as such.

I think it's just getting a bit old and tired, a bit like me.

The poor battery only lasts about 15 minutes before I need to plug it into the mains, so no wonder it gets hot.

Thanks.

I also think yours is a good one. It looks like you've hit the nail on the head (NOT necessarily in this case - I don't want to point a finger - but in general with this sort of 'took weeks'...'still waiting' thread).

Something's for sale at, say, £200, so advertise that item for, say, £250.
Buyer comes along BUT - item's been sold.
Oops £250 in bank account, no source for item, so got to run around hoping that one can be found for under £250.

Yep, tempting that one, but not worth trying.

1) It's a Del Boy approach to business (and it's NOT funny);
2) Your business is in the control of someone else (you are depending upon your target supplier still being able to deliver).

Imagine a situation where 2 (or more !) sellers conducted business like this.
Mmmm what's the record number of people PayPal's refunded for what is essentially the same item.
(Buyer pays £200 for headers, seller goes to seller2 for the ones they had advertised for £175, seller2 goes to seller3 for his £170 ones, seller3......).

A few biters bit there I think.

Sorry about this OP !

Get a replacement battery. They only last 2-3 years and the recharging is contributing to your problem. Before long you'll cook the board and have to replace the thing (and you wouldn't want Windows 8 ).

Btw - don't buy a used one from any FB or Ebay site (phew, back on topic).

Totally agree.

The thing I cant understand, or tolerate is that they have been advertising parts that are less common, like the 6 speed dccd box they posted on here that the lad waited 5 weeks for with no contact after payment then recieved a refund and they dont grow on trees. Even if you sold the one you had, trying to source another wouldnt be easy, especially as their prices are low to lure people in.

https://www.scoobynet.com/car-parts-...sion-r180.html

The girl on facebook that they took £350 off for an ecu only got her money back due to the amount of people that posted regarding the issued they'd had, and again it wasnt a common part.

I just dont understand how someone can take someones money knowing they dont have the part to sell then make them wait weeks/months for it, and when it eventually comes to getting a refund they use delay tactics on that too.

Ill put my 2 pence worth in back in Feb I was scammed by Darren. He sent me out parts that I would described as scrap and I dealt with him via SNET and texts. Took well over a week for his courier service to turn up and when I told him to collect the scrap parts that took nearly 2 weeks blaming couriers again.

after he had the stuff back it took nearly 2 weeks again to get a refund and Darren sent me a check minus postage and collection the cheeky b**tard until I rang and gave him what for down the phone.

Got a full refund in the end and had to source parts from a genuinely good breaker.

Well, it looks like this thread has followed many others.

Lessons to be learned on all sides (trust me to get on the wrong side of both parties).

Simple suggestion - when anyone deals with a seller ask them if the part is in stock (before parting with your hard-earned cash).

I have heard a lot of bad feedback about the mentioned breaker and my advise is,when it comes to money I'm not looking to hear excuses I'm looking for the service and parts that I have paid for saying your not perfect is a joke really, who is?that's not a valid reason to get away with dealing with your customers poorly,my advice spend your hard earned money else where. As they say there is no smoke without fire and I have heard that company's name get mentioned numerous times on here for shoddy parts and service.SJ.

Impreza parts on facebook was selling a rare RA gearbox, I made enquiries and noticed he was also selling R2000 MK6 parts (I owned one before the impreza) put two and two together and came up with JDM.
When I asked if he traded as JDM he replied that he had bought JDM's stock.

Anyways: https://www.scoobynet.com/car-parts-...d-gearbox.html

Coincidence maybe

I am all for people posting up honest experiences regarding traders, and I'm sure traders themselves accept that at times experiences won't always be positive. However, I think there has been a bit more to some of the posts on this thread than just honest, personal experiences, so as a result, I am locking this pending a bit more digging.

I want to make it absolutely clear that this is not an attempt to protect traders, but we can't stand back and do nothing if it seems not everything is as clear cut as it may appear.

Sorry for being vague, if I get any further information to share, I will update this thread.
