The crown can be a little wick fussy, little more the better to stop juice passing into the centre chamber

Been on and off the crown and tfv4 with the awesome triple clapton build, its just ridiculous. Few in work had a blast today up to 60w, amazed and now on order...........i like spending others money :-)

That's not too bad tbh, no more difficult than single or dual except more It's good how the wick ends meet in the shared wells though! However I think it will be a pita to re-coil it, for the cost and how long coils last....worth getting a couple of these bases imo. Pretty awesome and what a hit!

Hello again guys, thought I'd bump this thread up as I'm in the market for some new stuff now, me being a 50th birthday boy and all that, thought I'd better treat myself with my birthday money.

So I'm after a new tank and a double battery TC mod, tank needs to be rebuildable and top fill would be nice too, mod just needs to be reliable and good quality, looking to go to the next stage with claptons, dual and quad etc, so looking for a set up that can cope with that and some high temps.

Preferably something that doesn't spit back or get too hot too quickly, not too fussed about cloud chasing but would like good flavour production.

Cheers.

Come on guys where you all hiding?????

I've been reading some reviews on tanks and my 3 faves seem to be getting a few complaints of late.

TFV4, leaking, bad taste and goes through juice like crazy, which isn't such a big issue as I make my own, but the leaking I'd hate.

Crius V3, pain to clean, cant get at the seals where the top fill is and post issues, also had one in my hand and build quality seems to be lacking compared to the other 2.

Ulwell Crown, spitting.

So I know you guys have all of these between you and have had them for a while now so was wondering what they are like to live with after a month or two, obviously don't want to waste the best part of 30 quid and end up wishing I'd not bothered.

Also anything new on the market that you'd recommend.

First of all happy birthday

So I've not looked at any new tanks on the market,I'm sure there are even more to choose from now tho.
The 3 you have listed are all top of the list last time I looked.
I have the Crius v3 which is a rebuildable only tank,I love it and no complaints from me.
I have the uwell crown, again great tank but I rarely use it,I did have a leaking problem but that was my error.
The TFV4 is supposed to be a very good tank, there are some nice Clapton coils for that.

I make my own coils so that's why I stick with the v3 really and its top/side fill is pretty cool.
Personally I think most of the leaking and spitting problems are down to user error, not filling and putting back together properly etc,and the only time I've had spitting problems is having too much wick material in there.

I'm still using my iStick 30w and Subtank, it's well over a year old and still works great for me. Have tried loads of other tanks but as you've mentioned they all have a downside and don't offer much over the Subtank. Could definitely replace the iStick but will probably buy the 40w version as I can't be arsed with separate batteries.

Thanks Rich, I'm knocking on a bit now.

Cheers for the replies, I still don't know which one to go for, I'm off to my local vape shops in a bit, got 2 to choose from now, both pretty well stocked. It's going to have to be left to fate me thinks, so whose got everything I need in stock is going to get my money, did have a word in both shops and they were pretty much in line with the thoughts I've received on here, I even went back a few pages in this thread for a refresh and that didn't help either.

Anyhow it's going to be one of the 3 above and I doubt I'll be too disappointed, think the Ulwel is in pole position, but I do also like the TFV4, Ulwel for the crystal glass and all the bits you get with it, but the TFV4 has a very sexy top fill slide jobby, so I guess that puts the Crius in 3rd. It's the engineer in me that likes the build quality on the 1st two and the Crius just seems a bit lightweight in that department.

Decisions, decisions.

Been a busy day during the course of which I went out and spent a few quid.

In the end I went for something slightly different.

Kooper 200W TC mod box.
Griffin rba with a full velocity deck, rebuildable only.

Not sure what it's going to be like but opted for this set up to be slightly different and I liked the full velocity deck for it's flexibility and quad clapton coil capability.

This was all about having the flexibility to go in every possible direction, I can add the crown, crius V3 or TFV4 to this at a later date, TFV4 will probably be the next purchase, also got myself a charger.

Also got some cheery tunes juice thrown in which is immense on the bellus and my Ijust 2 which I don't think I mentioned before, I was bored one day a couple of months back and wanted a big pencil mod by way of a cheap ish spare.

Also got a **** load of concentrate to last me a while, basically bought all the ingredients to make my own hisenburge (sp) and a couple that I've not tried yet.

Started vaping just before xmas. Bought a curve mini so I could take it anywhere and was quite impressed. Started to look or something else after about a month and got a Kanger top box mini platinum. First vape nearly killed me! The difference in flavour and overall enjoyment was amazing once I got used to it. Kept the curve to take out...........but mostly end up taking the Kanger lol.

Any recommended liquids? Have had a few from VV, Heiseberg being the star, and some of the El Toro range from HoL (very nice but kill atty quickly and very potent even in the 'weakest' ones).

Only briefly tried TC on a stainless coil, no real advantage for me but will try Nickel at some point. Not built a coil yet, but have a RxA one in the pack so will try at some point.

I need recommendations.

For a fair while i've been using an Kanger Ipow2 battery with an Emow Mega tank, it's been great most of the time, recently though some of the batteries have been getting a bit dodgy. I've had one fail to charge, ive had one where the USB charging point has come loose inside and pushed into the battery so would no longer work, i've had one where it was constantly shorting out and giving false readings.

What would be a step up from this, i want a kit that's reliable, doesn't leak and is a good vape. One where i don't have to make my own coils, i prefer all the pre done stuff so i can pop it in and away i go.

What about this ?

What places do you recommend buying from these days, i've lost touch with which are the best and most reputable e-cig retailers.

That'll be a great upgrade, but don't forget to add a battery and shop around, that seems pricey.

I just bought this https://www.ukecigstore.com/kanger-nebox-kit.html

Can someone who uses the Kanger Top Box mini do us a small favour, could you post us some links for the batteries i need and the best brand to go for, also a link for the best coils to use with this kit as i'll need to get some spare ones. I presume you can use any strength of juice in this from 50/50 to say 80/20 as an example ?

What sort of power should you use with the relevant atomiser in this kit and what's the best resistance to use ? I also read that it said not to use more than 6mg in strength in nicotine in one of these, is that correct ? What strength would be the equivalent of what i'm using now which is 12mg in a normal type pencil stick setup ?

Cheers

Coils, I love these in 0.5
http://www.vapeclub.co.uk/replacemen...k-of-five.html
Friend with more powerful mods like yours swear by the claptons, personally couldn't tell much difference.
http://www.vapeclub.co.uk/replacemen...ton-coils.html
If you have a local vape shop it might be worth buying singles for a while till you find your favourite.

I'm on 80vg/20pg now and no problems.

Start at 20 and work your way up, the coils have a maximum written on them nowadays, I'm at 22 which gives me a good balance of warmth and battery life.

6 will be fine if you're moving to sub ohm. You'll probably find it comes with a 1.8 and a 0.5 coil you might find the 1.8 lacking at that strength.

The 0.5 coils last me until I think it must be disgusting in there... and it usually is, that can be 2 months!!

You need an 18650 cell, i highly recommend using the Samsung 30Q ones, they are very good cells, they last me 1-2 days each, you get 2 in a pack. The 2 i have are over a year old now and still charge and last just as well as from day one.

Example;
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2x-Samsung...cAAOSwDuJWztjd

Get the kanger coils for the toptank, you have choices;
0.15 ohm Ni200 Coil (Nickel coil needed to use the temperature control, to be honest this is a personal preference and i prefer the regular stainless steel coils)
0.5 ohm SS Coil (Usual Stainless steel coil)
0.5 ohm Clapton Coil

I would suggest starting with a pack 0.5ohm SS coils.

Yes you can use any mix of e-juice. i would recommend 30/70 PG/VG though, although 50/50 is fine as well.

Yes 6mg or lower ideally as its a sub ohm device you are using now so you get more flavour, throat hit than from your old device. Experiment, you could use 12mg as well.

Wattage/Power is down to personal preference my sweet spot is 44W, i have the kanger kbox platinum with a Uwell crown tank which is very similar to the topbox setup.

Cheers Jack, i've made some mental notes.

Bio, that one has threw a spanner in the works, is that setup you have on a par with the Kanger Top Box Mini or a better option for someone like me whose switching over from a standard stick setup ?

The Uwell crown tank is marginally better imo, it has better airflow. But to be honest you can't go wrong with the topbox kit and its own tank.

Solution, get both the kanger kit and also a Uwell crown tank and some Uwell 0.25ohm coils btw Uwell tank has both bottom AND top fill options

What about coils, should i go for the Clapton or the Stainless steel coils ? The Clapton seem to get good reviews but i've no idea personally as i'm not clued up with these sub tank setups. What ohm coils should i go for and what power would you suggest using them with on the topbox ?

Stainless 0.50ohm to start with, clapton ones give a bit more flavour, but like Jack i don't rate them and i prefer SS ones, personal choice again. I use 0.25ohm coils (they give a slightly smoother vape and you can ramp up the wattage) in the uwell tank, but i don't think you can get those for the kanger toptank.

Power like i said again personal choice, you need to experiment. So start low say 20-25W and ramp it up til you get a nice warm hit and decent amount of flavour.

Cheers Bio, i presume the battery in the 2nd link is the right one that you recommended earlier ?

One quick thing about liquid strengths, if you want a good nicotine hit what's the best mix to go for ? I think i read that 80/20 is smoother and gives you more flavour, a lot of the flavours i've been looking at in the 80/20 mix only seem to go upto 6mg in Nicotine strength, i've been using 12mg of nicotine strength in my stick type e cig which is 50/50 so obviously going down to 6mg is a lot less nicotine.

Yep that's the same battery.

80/20 of which PG/VG or VG/PG ? PG gives the throat hit VG results in more smoothness and vapour.

When you sub ohm you don't need as much nic content that is why most people recommend 6mg or less, because by its nature you get more of a nicotine and throat hit as you can use higher power mods resulting in more wattage through a coil with low resistance.

When i first started sub ohming i was using 12mg nic content and it was too harsh.

That's 80 VG/20 PG, the e-liquid place i've been using is called Go Liquid.

It's more the nicotine hit that i want and good after flavour, what do you recommend going with liquid wise in that Top Box mini setup ?

Can you do us a quick favour, your familiar with the MyEpack website.

I can't find the Stainless steel atomizers to go with this kit on their website, could you have a look and possibly post a link as i'll order everything in one go.

Nebox arrived.

First impressions, great size and very comfortable to hold. Already not too keen on the Ni coil that was in it, ramp up takes too long. Temp control is weird, on and off which it should I suppose but not loving it. It has rattling button that I'm hoping get clogged with crap. Hasn't leaked yet but probably will at which point there's a simple fix. Airflow is a bit too open but that'll probably tighten with use.

Not bad for £30 but nothing to rave about.

Here;
http://myepack.co.uk/accessories/kan...coil-head.html

You'll want the Subtank SSOCC 0.5 ohm Coils.

Liquid wise i make my own in a 30/70 PG/VG mix with 6mg nic with varying flavours.
