Default 4 wheel alignment/geometry set up cost?

Just been to my local specialist for a quote on a full 4 wheel alignment/geometry setup. Due to upgrading my standard widetrack suspension to rb320 bilsteins. Anyway price inclusive if vat is £149.

How does this sound? I thought it was expensive tbh?

Used to pay £70, have paid £115 but only because the ramps were rented. That is proper mainstream churn money and you won't in all likelihood get a job that reflects 149 quid.

I'd be inclined to take it to a Scoob specialist, Powerstaion or my favourite, Carnetix.

Worth the drive, Carnetix is a nice outing up the A1 for you.

At places like that, they discuss what you want, your driving style, tyre wear, etc etc, then set it up for you, before taking you out for a test run to see it does what they have set it up for, and then let you drive it to see if it's what you want.

Well worth the money.

Just checked them out. Powerstation - http://www.powerstation.org.uk/ has closed down according to their website.

Carnetix is over 2 hours away thats a bit too far to travel tbh!

Do a bit of research yourself and find out what sort of settings you're after, then find a local centre and tell them what you want, just make sure you give everything a couple of good sprays with some penetrating oil a few days before you go down there.

To be fair the tank full of fuel he'd be using to go there and back is going to cost him more than using the local tyre place with his own settings.

I pay 15/20 quid out here and generally end up doing most of it myself, if I had to do a 4hr round trip I'd be getting bits of string out and doing it the old fashioned way.

It's your car. You decide what's worth it and what's not. My first 4wa was at Powerstation, then a three hour drive from me.
Second one, after having coilovers fitted, done at Carnetix, an hour and three quarters from me.

If you want a job done properly, get it to the best. Or to put it another way, if a job's worth doing......

Had many alignments over the past few years,
Kwik fit we're a joke, had to stand there and guide the young lad how to adjust camber on the Coilovers I had fitted at the time, Steering wheel was off and had to go back the following day.
Cost £120

Api also disappointed me, I asked for a fast road setting and when I picked the car up it was at standard setting and not even side to side,
There excuse was there usual alignment place was closed but they still tried to charge me for something they didn't do, I had to drive to the Alignment place with a bloke from Api in my car to get it done again!
Cost £ didn't pay them!

Powerstation put there own setting on the car didn't really care what I wanted from the car, also fitted anti lift kit and roll bars told me 24mm roll bars wouldn't affect ride quality!! (Bad advice )
Alignment alone was £95

Peter Cambridge did the best set up,
Actually listened to what I wanted from the car and spend a lot of time testing and adjusting till the car felt perfect.
£145

Now I have my settings I use Cotswold Subaru.
There happy to put my settings on the car and get them bang on!
You get free drinks and biscuits and they also give the car a free suspension, battery, coolant, brake fluid, tyre and brake check with a health report and the best part is that it costs £65 including vat!

Bloody hell! You get around

Tbh, I may well try the local guy to me (perfect touch performance). I havent found anyone with a bad word to say about them! Ok they are not scooby specialists but funnily enough they had 5 in there this week doing various bits including upgrading a blob sti with a vf39 turbo, sti injectors and intercooler, de cat, uprated fuel pump, custom map and then in house rolling road. They do alot of jap cars too!

Its def worth the drive to him though, he asks you how you want it setting up etc and really taylors it to your needs, explains the print out aswell.

I cant recommend him enough, he was telling me people come from all over the country and i believe him, i would much rather travel the distance to him than get a generic setting from another random place.

InTurbo - You said now you have your settings you take it to cotswold subaru. Are these the settings you pm'd me? And would you highly recommend Peter Cambridge then?

Has anyone used FBTuning then for a setup?

Has your new suspension got adjustable top mounts... if it hasn't front and rear tracking is all you can adjust apart from the front Camber bolts.. Alignment gear is only as good as the bloke using it.
I have my own tracking guage here from when I worked in a garage.. set my classic RA up myself at home with my own settings .. do some sprinting with it and it handles spot on.
Been to perfect touch. . Nice guys had a dyno run there... I live local .

No adjustable top mounts its the original rb320 bilstein suspension with tein 40mm lowering springs. It really needs doing as it handles terribly at the minute!

Think they are up to the job then? perfecttouch?

I only had a dyno done there.. don't really know enough about them..
As you have factory type shocks fitted your only going to get tracking adjustment and a Camber bolt tweek. Depends if you could do with keeping your £149 with crimbo looming. .
what's your car doing that is making you feel it's handling badly..

Just doesnt feel tight as it should. Since owning the car I have never had the tracking done due to waiting for a decent suspension upgrade. So now its done im hoping to see and feel the transformation!

Tbh I could do without parting with the cash atm, but I will get it done this side of xmas for sure!
