Make sure you have plenty of spare oil and don't start it unless you intend on warming it up as they flood easy and are a nightmare to start once flooded ,,, loved driving my RX8 just hated how much fuel and oil the thing used ,, my 450bhp scoop is cheaper to run by along way lol

I've had one on and off for a total of about 3 years as a daily, they are brilliant. An RX8/Subaru combo is a nice setup to have.

All they need in terms of maintenance is frequent oil and ignition system changes (much more frequent than the manufacturer says), but it is pot luck as to how long the engine will last. I have never flooded an RX8 incidentally.

Nice car, the Mrs fancied one of these a number of years back, my worry about engine reliability so that was the main reason we opted for a Fabia VRS instead. Enjoy your new car and nice to have a choice in what you jump in and drive.

Oh dear! A friend of mine had one, he came accross a decent engine from a crash damaged one. Then he set about finding a car with a broken engine (far easier than finding a decent engine).
Once it was fixed a drove it a few times, not very quick, no torque and worse than a V8 range rover in fuel.
Extremely in effecient engine the wankel, lots of fuel, lots of waste heat, not much power.
Many attempts have been made to put proper piston engines in them and as of yet I have only seen one completed (Saab b204 engine) the chassis doesn't lend itself well to an conversion.
