I have an 06 Hawkeye WRX currently on Tein s-tech lowering springs.
Compared to stock springs it is a lot lower (35mm front and 25mm rear I think) but I need to drop the car even lower.

However I've noticed when taking acute/sharp corners the wheels are catching the arch I think, making a very unwelcoming noise.
I have 8.875J wide wheels so not sure if this the cause, but have seen someone using 10J on the same car but there's not scraping.

My question is if I was to get coil overs (to drop the car even lower) how can I stop or fix the rubbing on the arches?
Is it possible?

If its the wheels rubing then you have a few options.

Fit narrower wheels. Or narrower tyres, which will have the stretched look.

Raise the height of the car. But as you want to go lower this is not an option.

Or get the wheel arches rolled.

Coilovers will allow for height adjustment to suit your needs. But if there is rubbing going on now, then any further lowering will cause more rubbing.

There is also the option of adding negative camber to the rear wheels. But not ideal to do this just to avoid rubbing of the tyres.

Is it the front or rear that are rubbing?

Hi thanks for the reply.
I'm not 100% sure but I think its the rears that's rubbing as the sound is definitely coming from behind me.
Why does it only rub when cornering and not in a straight line?
Its not ad if the back wheels rotate, they're always straight.
PS: I spent a lot of money on the wheels and tyres (both bought brand new) so I have no intention of changing either.
Looking for a fix from my current setup, don't mind spending a little to fix the issue.

The cars body will roll when cornering , the more acute the corner, the more the body will roll. Your shifting the weight of the car to one side when cornering, causing the suspension to compress, therefore bringing the body closer to the wheel.

Are you sure it's the tyres making the noise? Diffs can be noisey when cornering if they are low on fluid or faulty in some way.

As other say, if you have a rubbing problem, fix the rub.
Don't use suspension to avoid rubbing, as that is the same as putting a plaster over wound, it is still there.

The suspension have to move in order to perform it's job.
Having rock hard suspension will just make the car horrible to drive.. and you probably will still get rubbing if you hit a bump hard enough.

My left rear arch wheel is catching on a corner since fitting bc coilovers
I had replace ment arches fitted and the garage mentioned the lip was just slightly deeper then the old rusty one
It's caught a couple of times and was adjusted for the mot by a couple of mm but its now catching more now meaning I can't use it untill I get it back to the garage

Don't want to roll the arch as it might need repainting again and it was a lovely job done on them and noticed the rubber strip protector is started to wear now after being caught a few times

Is it a simple job to just raise the coilovers to solve the problem

It's just going round a right hand bend it catches although I hit a slight pot hole at low speed and I heard the noise again from the left hand side only

The bc coilovers were fitted 3/4 weeks ago
And was ok when I got it
Is it possible that the car has dropped slightly as he springs bed in as its just really started now after a couple of hundred miles ?

you could harden up the rear suspension to reduce movement as a temporary solution but it would make the car skittish in the wet. Personally I find any work on the suspension a pain and wouldn't recommend going there unless you have good kit and premisis.
