Default The 2015-2016 Manchester United Thread

Only a few weeks to go now

Tabloids doing my head in, if you believe every story we'll have a first team squad of 85 costing 2.5 billion

Vey happy with Depay, interested in the Di Maria Cavanni swap story, dont see the point of fannying about with Madrid and holding out for 35m for De Gea, he wants to go so let him go.

Surpised we didn't go for Clyne but I'd take Seamus Coleman all day long.

Just can't see the Ramos bid coming off, he's doing an Alves and holding out for a better deal.

Things should start hotting up this week in the market

Hope you don't mind me posting as I'm not a Man U fan.. Although I do have an opinion

You guys was very lucky last season to finish where you did.. You played some really awful football for most of the season.. But fair play to your team they still won when playing badly I think most teams are still intimidated playing Man U both home and away and if more teams attacked you more then you wouldn't have finished in your lofty position.. Your whole team needs a complete overhaul, with many needing to move on and at least half a dozen players needed.. But as like Liverpool are doing you shouldn't really be in 'bargain basement' or 'free' (player dependant of course) territory.. And it seems that 20-30 million only buys you an average player at best these days..

I don't think ANY team should keep ANY player if they want to move on, as I firmly believes it upsets the apple cart.. So for me I would let DE GEA move.. Obviously for a fair price, and if that's 35m then so be it.. Casillias (sp) @ RM would be a good replacement and CHEAP!! Other than that I amazed that the NUFC keeper (Krull) has never moved as I think he is a great keeper.

I would still give De Maria 'time' but how much is the hardest question....I'm thinking 6-12 months...?? RVP I believe will move on.. Cavani (sp) being a worthy replacement.. Certainly not Benzema...! For the (touted) price of Charlie Austin (10-15m) I think he deffo worth a punt for ANY prem side!!

Jones, smalling, Evans are simply not good enough for 50%. Of prem sides let alone Utd..
Shaw is long term and I think he will be great.. But needs someone NOW to push him.. You should have got Baines..
Coleman is a great shout

Apologies for my ramblings.. I'm @ the hospital and bored sh1tle55

To be honest with De gea, i can see why there holding out for 35 million, as he save United last season. He's most likely worth more to the club than if sold, if Madrid won't pay the money then keep him, they can have him for free next year

Its going to take abit for Man u to get back on track they have lost an outstanding manager. So for mean time they will need to throw money at the problem

Agree with a lot of what you said but the above I do not. The reason teams have done well lately at Old Trafford is because they sit 9/10 players deep and say go on then, break us down, then hit us on the counter. Its difficult for any team to break down so many defenders, and then due to inept defending we have given chances at the other end on the counter. Even Chelsea played that way against us home and away.

I would still fancy United against most on an attack vs attack type game. The fact we struggle to now break down defensive teams is a little worrying though.

We hear the 'teams are scared to face United' line a lot, but if anything i'd argue most up their game for United.

Anyway looking forward to what the new season brings IF we make a few purchases. Ramos would be a superb buy, Schneiderlin would be OK but much prefer Pogba back or Vidal (we want world class not just premiership class). May be time to let RVP if we can get a decent replacement but not a lot around. If we keep De Gea that will be like a new signing - he may be tempted if we get Ramos.

If he does go and Hernandez goes that leaves us with Rooney and Wilson, you'd think they'd be buying a couple of strikers

Not sure Hernandez will pass a medical at the moment. I know how much that hurts after snapping mine in Chamonix

Looks like RVP is off to Turkey, thanks for one great season, it was worth it.

Seriously we need strikers now even if he does give Wilson more game time, I still stick with the idea of Austin + 1 other, preferably world class.

Rumours that were interested in Sakho of West Ham !!

I'd rather go to the states or Aussie football than go to Turkey to play!

Austin would be a steal for any prem club including a top 4 side.

World class.. Not many around im afraid.. And that's in any position.

Cavanni is great as is higuain.. But I'd leave benzema where he is.

You should have got luiz Adriano from shakhtar.. He now gone to Milan for 8 million euros!

Very happy we're getting schweinsteiger, exactly the type of dominant and combative midfielder we needed. Shows we still have pulling power to bring in big names, couldn't see that one coming as never thought he would leave bayern. Should get 3 - 4 good years out of him at least.
In a way sad to see rvp go but to be fair to van gaal he's made a bold move to think about the future.
More annoyed Nani didn't get a chance to work under van gaal, he still has some big performances in him, maybe moved on to make way for gaitan?
Looks like Ramos was an agent job to get bigger contract, looking more unlikely to go through now, shame as he would be great!

I hope it pay off with schweinsteiger, as he was injured last seasion i believe.

As for strikers, could do with one more, although i will love watching Wilson and Rooney together, think they will make a great pair.

Whilst Bastian was undoubtly a quality world class player.. His best days are far behind him. He will be 31 in a few weeks so can't quite see how you'll get 3-4 years out of him. He played less last year than the considerably older alonso. He is playing less and less each year and I don't think his body is cut out for the rough premiership. Although at the price you payed for him it MIGHT work out ok. But he will be on a huge weekly wage so it's less that can/will be payed on others. On a plus side it will attract other players to the club with a chance to play alongside a World Cup winner.

As for a Sriker.. You need one.. And very quickly!

Also you need to wrap up the keeper situation.

Yer strange one that, he played quite a few reserve games but must have wound LVG up the wrong way.

Looks like Di Maria may be free to move if we get have decent money from PSG. To be honest that would be really disappointing if we let him go already. He is world class, he had a bad start what with having his house burgled etc and I think with a little bit of time he will prove to be as exciting as he was at Real.

Still hopeful we can keep De Gea too, building quite a Spanish contingent so here's hoping!

Proper stitch up job drawing you boys away on the opening game of the season!! All this talk of Marquee signings in Manchester and here are us Tottenham boys hoping Soldadud will finally come good. Meh! Still, the new Sainsburys next to White Hart Lane is, erm, nice. Parking with a roof over it too. Beauty!

Very disapointed with Di Maria and his decision to walk away after one poor season, bottled it imo, obviously not a strong enough character for the Prem.

Can just see the agent saying his value's dropping every month and any signing on fee/commission is going with it. So yeah, he left for "footballing reasons"......
