Really? You mean as performance or leaving club?

Leaving, there will be no sentiment from LVG, as shown by giving Rooney the captaincy.

Smalling gets a new 5 year deal

I'm as bemused as I was when we gave Nani a new deal last season, surely it is to protect any sell on value.

Smalling played well last game, hes was pushing forward which in the past he hasn't done and just sat back in defence.

But as you said if they want to sell him signing a new contact will be key, i think they should keep him get rid of evans and Jones

If you think renewing Smalling's contract is silly, you will love this one

Manchester United transfer news: Memphis Depay arrives in England to seal Man U move

Not sure how reliable it is as off Metro website

Most rags are going with the Depay story, so hopefully he'll come, I like what I've seen of him on BT sports coverage of the eredvisie, he looks a United player. His arrival would surely end Nani's time.

I agree with Urban, I can't see Falcao being offered a full time roll, not at £43m.

Losing to Chelski to a lucky goal is one thing - Getting gubbed by Everton is a whole different story.

Looking forward to Van Gaal's interview .

Glad I didn't stay in to watch that rubbish. What did LvG do - let Moyes back in for one last game?

Can't see David De Gea staying long, i hope he stays till next year at least, the club has offered him around £200,000.

But seen as he was born in Madrid, i'm sure he will end up going back.

His girlfriend still lives in madrid. I think he will be gone at the end of this season. If we keep him to the end of next season he will leave for free. Van gaal has known for a while, thats why he got valdes. cech would be a good buy too.

Its a shame, i don't blame him if his family, girlfriend are over there, plus its his home city, and its not like he'd be playing for a worse team, doesn't look like hes staying, wonder how much they will sell him for?

At least should be able spend else where, need someone to replace Carrick in next few years.

I'd hate to see him leave, I posted in here last year we should be giving him a 10 year contract, we've developed him into the keeper he is today.

My only hope is his close friendship with Mata will keep him at OT.

If he wants to leave and is to be sold to Madrid we'd want a player as part of the deal, we may as well go all out to get Bale as part of the deal.

Gundogan would be a good buy for the Carrick role, long term.

That piece is 5 months old

I didn't think the manager at RM had any say in transfer policy anyway, just like LFC if recent stories are to be believed

The whole De Gea / Bale story will go on all summer depending on how much Madrid/United want these players and it will be played out on the back pages until we are bored to tears with it.

As for yesterday's game - holy f**k. Pass it back pass it sideways. Only people wanting to attack were Rooney, RvP and Young. Henry and Yorkes piece at half time showing the direction of Mata's passes summed it up well. Di Maria looked lost when he came on - don't see that changing any time soon but I hope I am wrong. 4th spot should have been in the bag.

Shows how big a loss Carrick is to our team.

The game was dire. I really don't understand what's going on.
Performances like we showed against Chelsea/Man City/LFC were fantastic and we looked like the real deal again, then we have the last two/three shambolic outings.
I still think we'll get 4th, but it'll be nervy for sure.

Carrick - you're 100% correct. We need to strengthen midfield
