Hi Gang,

I have just returned from my trip to Seattle (jet lag is the pits) and finally have a copy of the Video footage taken on-board my Westfield that was taken by Joel from Microsoft.

As i promised back at Easter i have made a one hour 20 minute compilation of the footage for you guys out there.

This is a home style vudeo in that i have just used tape to tape copies, it is not of the quality of CK1 @ the ring and no doubt CK1 @ the ring II, however the footage is just incredible.

If you want to see raw, unedited, onboard footage from my Westie (Zei220 330BHP) plus from the following cars you wont regret buying a copy.

It includes.

1) 1 lap onboard a Caterham in the snow.
2) My first lap on the Easter Friday, patchy wet track.
3) My second lap on Easter Friday in snow. Watching me trying to apply 330BHP on semi-slicks on the ring in snow is just unreal, gets my bum twitching just watching it.
4) A VERY fast lap onboard the Westie from the Saturday, the infamous Richard Askew "Oh my god, i am going to die" lap. Looks like we had a good 12" from the bariers at 100MPH Richard, Dunno why you were so frightened! I'ts an 8 min 22 sec lap with LOTS of traffic. Definately Sub 8 minute pace, quite mind blowing in places if i say so myself.
5) A Very fast lap onboard my Westie of the convoy lap that Stef and I did together, this time it's Stef holding me up!!
6) A lap onboard a Lotus Exige, after watching this you should really apreciate quite what a pace Stef and I are travelling.
7) A lap onboard Matt Ozz's amazing BMW 330 Turbo Diesel. The real ring taxi.
8) A lap with Phil Gardner (Ringa) in his Impreza showing how fast can also be silky smooth.

The above footage is top stuff but it is not aimed at competing with the CK1 films, it's great footage that will keep you going until Stef gets his very profesionally produced "Return to the Ring" video available. For those of you looking for some amazing onboard shots and to get a feel for what an Open top sports car is like at 150MPH on the most amazing race track in the world, this is for you. For those of you who have ever taken a trip in my Westie on track this will show you what it is capable of when allowed to stretch it's legs on a high speed circuit.

If you would like a copy please email me on john.felstead@btinternet.com

John you Muppet!!
Is there any chance you can send the digital masters so I can get on with the production of 'Return to The Ring'? I've only been waiting 2 months for them!
Can't wait to see all the footage!!
Cheers chappy.

Stef.
PS There is a way you can see just how quick your laps might have been without traffic, a few of the Ringers do it to get an idea of their 'perfect' laptime. Find the sections in your quickest lap where you are being held up. Find these same sections in other laps without traffic and then combine the times. Sorted. It obviously doesn't mean anything officially, but it'll give you an indication of what times you could be doing on a clear lap.

Good idea Stef, i dont have that much footage from the circuit unlike yourself so may be tricky but i'll give it a go. It's not that important as i want to set a sub 8 min lap properly, i have no doubt at all i can do that now.

Stef, mail me your home address and you will have the masters next day.

I know what you mean about the wait, i picked the tapes up just 6 hours before i flew home on monday night so just got them in time. The footage is worth the wait though, especially the 2 fast laps onboard my car, quite absurd speeds really.

Cost of the video, i was thinking of £10 each plus postage and packing. This should cover costs and give me a £5 for my efforts, helps towards my next ring trip, i use £250 of rear tyres per trip (you will see why on the video ) just to give you an idea of the costs of running something a bit mental

I need to double check on postage and packing costs but i would think £2 would cover it.

Is this an OK price? Let me know either way.

thanks
john

Cool

Is there a soundtrack to the video John?

If not, can I suggest "Out of Control" by the Chemical Brothers?

Not bust an actuator in ages now, so LOL

If you want a copy of the video you need to mail me so i can give you an address to send the dosh to.

I have added another car to the list, that being Richard Squires RS200, be rude not to really.

Not had a peep out of Richard Askew on this yet, maybe he is trying to forget?

Chris,

"Out of Control" by the Chemical Brothers ? Nah, you want "I've Snapped Another Actuator" by the Cossie Brothers.

Cheers

As the driver of the (probably rather sedate) lap in the Exige, count me in m8! Sending my details right now...

Good to hear from you Michael.

The lap is actually very well driven, lovely lines. The exige looks real easy to drive, if it had more power it would be awesome.
