Change Widetrack STI for Forester STI or Legacy GT?
As per the title really...as my cirumstances change I'm starting to find that I could do with a bit more practicality and a bit more room. I currently have a UK Widetrack STI which I love to pieces, but it's a bit of a pain when you're ferrying people around or trying to get a lot of stuff in the boot.....or transport large items with the none-folding rear seats lol
So I'm thinking about sticking to the Subaru Marque but changing to a Forester or a Legacy. Can anyone impart any wisdom about the pros and cons of them? I know there are a few Forester drivers on here...but not sure about Legacy.
Cheers

I have had a Foggy STi and am now inside my second JDM WR LTD Spec B GT, but both cars I loved.
For more Legacy info go here - http://www.uklegacy.com/forums/
The Legacy Spec B GT is really a fist in a velvet glove with just a minor map tweak but remains quite and refined, it's a 2.0l Twinscroll with 280 BHP as standard. They have an ECO mode and can return 30 mpg on a long run without any problems, mapped and with the button off it can seriously lift it's skirt and shift very well. It's not as dynamic as a Impreza but the standard Bilsteins and springs work very well. The build quality is also way better than an Impreza which can only be a bonus. Lacking a 6th gear on the BP/BL pre-facelifts is not to much of a chore.
I have the wagon and the space is great. The JDM Spec B GT as many extra features over the UK car including reclining rear seats and remote rear seat release to name a few and later models are available 6 speed Si Drive. The UK 6 Speed H6 3.0 litre is a great bruiser too but lacks that JDM-ness I like. The 2.0 and 2.5's are OK but a bit dull IMHO. My daughter, son in law, two kids and all their camping gear were easily taken to Cornwall last year without fuss.
Mine is mapped to 319/327 with just a Cosworth Panel Filter. The 6 speed is an upgrade that some have done to the JDM 5's. The Impreza boxes to not fit as they lack a sensor mount.
My Foggy STi 2.5 JDM really was a brute with the Lichfield 330/330 upgrade with lots of Whiteline Chassis stuff and STi Pink suspension, with the Zero Sport Induction kit and full 3 inch Milltek it was a real missile, the torque was positively face rearranging but helped with the fuel consumption having a 6th gear. It was sold and LPG'd and was last known with 140K on the clock and rising. The smaller intercooler would probably be the only upgrade I would have done with mine. The handy thing is there are a lot of common Impreza GD/GG chassis common parts.
The load area is not as big as the Leggy and I found the rear as cramped as an Impreza. Horses for courses but currently the Leggy is imports are cheaper. BUT I got my WR Ltd in May 16 but the same model is now importing for £1000 more

FSTI all day long. Mine is running just under 350bhp now and is an absolute delight to drive every day. I came from an Impreza into the FSTI and I loved it so much I sold my pride and joy Impreza. Such a practical car and so fast now. Certainly equal to my modified 334/381 2.5 Impreza I had before.
The extra height inside is very useful too and the boot space is great. Mine gets used daily and for everything. I honestly don't know how I coped before I had it now. It's great.

The UK Cars came as 2, 2.5 flat four and a 3.0 flat six.
Only the 2.0l diesel as a turbo. But the flat six takes well to a blower
If you need specifics drop me a PM and I'll send my phone number or PM hallie on UK Legacy who is the Brain

Ive had foggys and legacys of most shapes and agree with trooper.
What i would say is that the leggy load bay is noticably longer inside than the forester.
Im currently in a 3.0 specb 6 speed (soon for sale :-) ) and its a great drive but very different feel to the 4 cylinders, easily sits above 30mpg and i find the easy torqueyness suits the longer and heavyer estate really well.

I'm still annoyed that subaru's current range isn't a patch on what was available in 2005...
