Default EBC brake pads

I've been recommended some EBC brakes, red I think, for 170 front and back fitted. Does anyone have any opinion on these?

Why not? What would you suggest? They just updated to say it would be blacks on the front and yellow on the rear

Red are crap. Blue aren't amazing when you really push. Orange are pretty good when you push but not amazing when cool. If you're on a budget and don't drive that hard then they may be okay but I'm sure AS or Godspeed would have a better option available than Red's. If you can stretch some more budget you'll get vastly greater performance.

I've just finished bedding in a set of yellow stuff fronts, must say they feel really good, saying that I've gone front 2 pot(old car) to 6 pot fronts so anything would feel better to me.
Unfortunately they are my only pad option unless I get them made!

I echo the others comments above. Don't do EBC pads they are useless. Discs are fine, but pads are just terrible.

Performance friction is the way forward.

The garage I was going to use say they haven't heard of/can't get performance friction. Does anyone know a fitter in/near Essex?

I used to buy mine from Bob @ Aztec Performance, but sadly it looks like he's finally gone out of business now. Website shut, ebay shop shut and proposal to strike off the companies register pending. Shame.

AS Performance and Godspeed do them, then fit them yourself.
