This post and its replies makes me laugh.me and the other half have a Subaru and evo and we are 40.we both going to a rolling road (with others at a shootout)on sat to see who's making Sunday breakfast.the older you get the more money you get to spend unless your kids are like mine lol.both over 350bhp and have street awakening exhausts.its in our blood since we had cosworth at20 for 10 years then turned to the rice burners and were told that 4 door saloon cars weren't best for a family car either by the in laws,we never listened.
Like what's been said if you have to ask then there,s doubts.tbh it's the youngs one that give the car scene a bad name and the percentage of keyboard warriors on here still wear nappies and suck breast milk.
And I have a track day in sept too.age is not an issue believe me,once in your blood your caught lol,
In my cosworth days there's was a guy called rod who for his 60th wanted to see 200 mph in his 700bhp with nitrous in his sapphire cosworth

Age is no excuse and your no age do it..you won't regret it

I guess being 25 with my Hawk WRX that I am one of the youngsters then! Owned for 2 years and don't wish to sell as it puts a smile on my face every time I drive, but having a mortgage is squeezing my pocket

Bought my classic in '97 at the age of 38, bug STI is still work in progress, now 56, and would love a quieter exhaust and for it to get rebuilt into a car

I think there's a kind of 'line' here. Driving a Subaru is fine at any age, however, driving a stickered up 'scooby' with tinted rear lights and ripspeed fold-out DVD head-unit in is a bit, well, sad. There is a guy in Chelmsford who I think is mid 50's, drives a classic with 'Flamer' exhaust, rally sticker kit (or whatever stickers they are), green alloys and stuck on rally roof vent. Makes me cringe a bit if I see it driving around. I also often see a guy, about 70 odd, in a totally standard mica turbo 2000.....he's cool.

40 this year for me, had my Hawk STi since 07 and still wouldn't part with it, I am considering getting a quieter backbox than my Hayward and Scott that's on it at the moment though.

Ditto, sort of...

I'm in my 60th year and have a 2001 Prodrive Bugeye Wagon heavily modified. It comes out every day of the week for a fun drive anywhere. I am lucky enough to drive a nearly new E350 coupe and Golf R but the Sube is the car I really love and can't sell.

Owned a Sube for nearly one third of my life and I've no plans to be without one so long as the DVLA will let me.

Having read the prior posts though, seems like as SNers go, I'm just a young spring chicken ...

im 46 and love my bug sti to bits. its my second subaru, my first was a my96 wagon running 320 bhp. im in the proccess of arranging a map for the bug and dont give a monkeys what anyone thinks. i had my son at the park yesterday, he,s 8 and there were some older kids playing there maybe 12 or 13 and as we went to leave they saw the car we were heading to. "oh wow! is that your scooby mister" "yep it sure is son" says i. "is it fast? can you rev it up? does it have a dump valve? " just made me smile that a 13 yr old car still gets that reaction from kids who were barely born when it came out and yet they knew what it was. and my son felt ten foot tall as he got in the car and the lads started asking him questions about the car etc. i started the car, gave it a few revs then pulled away. as i did i looked in the rear view mirror and the smile on my sons face said it all. too old? never!

He loves it. He's in the process of getting the wheels powdercoated.

If anyone goes to prescott hill climb his is the standard looking blue UK car.

i,ll have to show my friends wife this thread. when i got the bug and showed up at my friends house to let him see the car she came out and said " is that your mid life crisis car?" that made me laugh as ive been into cars since i was a kid but as somene else said earlier sometimes its later in life you are in a position to buy and run one of these cars.

Im 60 and drive a white spec c wide track with a 3 inch full decat so its loud very loud, i do get strange looks from some people, once i came out of the petrol station after paying for fuel and there was a couple of young guys standing next to a kitted up astra, as i walked to my car and opend the door one of them said "f*** me theres an old c*** driving it", but i dont care what other people think and feel sorry for all those drivers out there who have never driven a Subaru, they dont know what they are missing.

OK I concede. Seems my inclusion in the Guiness book of records for the oldest Impreza driver seems under threat!
