Well a little teaser of the paint job…

Got the roof done out the way so that can be masked up tomorrow out the way and no leaning over the side of the car with the hose ect…

And some basecoat

Then lacquered

We also wanted to see the orange to see how it covered so did the mirrors and grille (center of the grille will be black) not the best pic... think I was excited

So busy day tomorrow to get the sides done in the 3 colours, good job Mark knows what he is doing!!!

Well I have a big smile on my face tonight car is looking amazing

I know probably not everyone’s cup of tea but the paint job is spot on…

So started with the white basecoat, with my mate Mark in action…

Then started to mask the orange line out

And then time for some orange

Then masked up and the grey put on

Finally de-masked ready for clear...

Then with the clear on...

Got the other panels to do next weekend and de-nib and polish the car..
I’m shattered now so beer time

Cheers James, colours work great wasn't sure how it would actually look, the grey is a strange colour from some angles it's more like black then another angle almost a tinge of brown,

anyway you'll see it when you pick your doors up... But I apologise Mark was going to polish them Saturday morning but mine took over!!!

Test fitted the mirrors on Sunday, The orange is very slightly different as it went over primer on the mirrors but over white on the car, but as its separated by the grey backing plate its not really noticeable.

The finish out the gun is excellent but Mark gave the top of the rear quarter a quick polish and the finish is like glass

I'm now having second thoughts on putting the griffin on the rear quarter.

I've just got my fingers crossed that you will be putting a vid up when it's finished.

Can I ask, is the colour scheme just something you like or is it there for a sponsor etc?
either way looks good.

Video defo once running ect..

Colour scheme is based on something I saw on an Aston Martin race car, I had played with loads of different designs in photoshop...but mainly I wanted something different!!!

I have a couple of sponsors, Rally-Tech and CCA Developments Subaru Spares and my mate Mark who painted it for me so they will go on the car, all three have helped my out along the way with either parts or advice ect

The long term plan is maybe some hill climbs but will get it on the track first and see how it performs...

Got a nice delivery today... my door windows, I was going to make them myself but once I had purchased the Lexan and the sliders its worked out about £30 extra to buy them ready made from ACW motorsport plastics,

Also been on a road trip tonight to Liverpool to pick up some other bits of trim which I have either misplaced when the car was moved or was a bit tatty, also got some factory tint GSi rear lights...

Roll on the weekend!!!

Got my other panels primed up but didn’t get chance to get them in colour so a job for this week/weekend…

Most of the car is now polished and it looks great so I took a few more pics, also fitted the Lexan windows in the doors, need to make something to fix them and stop them sliding down,

And got some GSi tinted rear lights which look loads better than Std ones as the rear is all grey

As I couldn’t get the other panels in colour I did some other jobs took the wheels off to get the tyres removed and wheels painted...

I put some oil in the engine and a new filter and span it over, and NO oil pressure!!! As it’s been a good year since building and I have been turning it by hand every so often I think the assembly lube had gone from the pump

So I had to back fill the pump by taking the high pressure bung out and syphoning some oil into the pump using a funnel and hose, also took the low pressure bung out to allow any air back out,

Didn’t take a pic while doing it but here's the general idea…

As I didn’t have the Subaru loom in place I knocked up a temporary oil light which now goes out in about two seconds of cranking, and I have oil up to the turbo so all good now.

Well not a bad weekend but not really any pics,

I spent most of the weekend doing wiring I had a couple of battery cables to finish making so I got them done,

I then looked at the Subaru loom and powered up the ECU all was going ok until I get an error 53 which means immobiliser circuit failure, so I may have to run the Subaru immobiliser which I haven't got so will have to get on, or see if I can get the ECU to not look for the immobiliser

I also tightened up the fuel lines and put a couple of gallon of fuel in it and powered up the pumps, one small leak from the gauge on the regulator so I've ordered some permatex thread sealant rather than ptfe tape, so that's a good result.

I'm using a facet red top low pressure pump which is a bit noisy so may have to re-think that at some point as its behind the drivers seat.

Also cleaned and painted some two pot rear callipers I bought so they will go on next weekend when I get the bigger discs and mounting brackets.

Will remember to take pics next week....

Yes rear brakes were great, thanks... It was a shame to paint them but needed to be blue...

New discs arrived yesterday, so they will be going on today,

been awhile since an update, someone (Wife !!) decided it would be a good idea to move house so that's coming up in a few weeks... so instead of buying car parts I'm buying blinds, carpets and cookers

Anyway on the car I swapped to using a JDM ECU as they don't look for Immobiliser signal, had to swap a few wires around on the ECU as they are wired slightly differently on the crank and cam sensor,

still not running though I have a weird situation where while I'm cranking it I don't get a spark but as soon as I let of cranking it sparks as try to run and back fires,

I'm sure I have heard the coil arcing so I'm going to pick up a new coil pack for the weekend and see if that helps, also have a few spare sensors and other bits just in case...

Other than that I've been doing a few jobs I got hold of some rear two pot callipers although they were in pretty good condition I had to paint them to match the front, then had to get the conversion brackets and bigger discs,

with them fitted and finished of with a new Subaru decal...

front disc is on the wrong side (had a blonde moment )

finger crossed we will have some noise the weekend...

Progress is a bit slow at the moment just in the middle of moving house so not had much chance to get to the unit.
