I'm not right good at these project threads so please bear with me.

I bought this car off Drew as some of you may know and I must say he has done quite a bit external wise, full facelift front end etc.
Here's a thread what he'd done (hope he don't mind me linking his thread) https://www.scoobynet.com/projects-4...y-project.html which he has done a fantastic job as bodywork is not really my thing.

The car has slight play in the thrust bearing, but still starts and drives ok (but it's a how longs a piece of string scenario). Anyway that didn't bother me as I want to change the engine as these classic engines are not highly regarded unless forged.
I bought it purely due to condition as it's rust free and in great condition jdm, just the engine that I wanted to do anyway.

So plan is to drop another block in and run it around 380hp for now and then later head towards 450ish.

My main concern is good handling with good spooling drivable power, nothing drastic.

This is not going to be a project like some on here that's had big money spent on nice new parts etc, but done cheap as possible but more importantly relabilly! Some parts I'll have to source new of course. Will just see how it goes.
It will probably be a slow one too as I'm in no rush to do it and will keep me tinkering on the little bits to get it to my liking.

I've already started collecting some bits that not needed yet lol, but if I see bargains then I'm all guns blazing

Brief spec of the car as far as I can remember

Full facelift front end
Facelift rear bumper
Tien super street with edfc controller
Alloy arms
Fmic
Sti uppipe
Full custom made 3" decat exhaust with a huge back box (I plan to change back box) must say it's very well made.

That's all the good bits I can think of ATM. There's probably other bits but you get the drift.

Looking at the paperwork, the car had been serviced and set up by chevron so I'd think it's set up well (not had a proper test yet as it's not road leagal)

I'll try my best to take photos as and when I fettle with it (but no promises) as I just get stuff done instead of thinking about photos

Anyway, here's some photos I knicked off the add (sorry Drew)
Ignore the wheels, seats and wing mirrors as Drew didn't include them in the price
He gave me some basic WRX seats, standard mirrors back on and some lovely celica wheels to make sure it was rollable (you should of seen these beauty's, but I've sold them on ebay)

And he's how she stands ATM

Not much changes since

A few bits I've collected

Didn't like the bulbs so I fitted these

Changed the wheel for a 350mm sabelt deep dish

Don't like the size of the pipe that's on it

So got this to fit later, milltek 3"

Got these password jdm quick release bumper kit to fit

As this is how it was received

Rear whiteline solid links

Swrd 290lph pump

Rear brace

22mm whiteline front arb (but I keep changing my mind so got Perrin 27/24mm coming)
This is for sale now

Hmm, this tasty RCM filter with pipe work ready for mafless

More tasty, hatch Brembos

Need to get my chosen disc and pads yet

All above to be fitted as soon as I have time. But I thought I'd pile them up so can spend a decent day on car tinkering.

Got this big heavy parcel waiting for me when I got in from work

Opened it up, it took a while as it was wrapped quite heavily, and this is what I found inside

There was 2 of these inside
1st one

2nd one

Can anyone tell me condition, make, version, and what cams are in there?
Just to confirm I haven't been conned

No drag runs for me really, may take it on to get a time though, mainly track/handling/spool focused.

At one point I did believe it or not. Ye I have got another one tucked away, don't get much time to play around nowadays.

What are your plans with the engine? hope your not paying someone for a rebuild, if so I will PM the mods to remove this from the Projects

Plan is sti7/8 bottom end with above v3 sti heads with esl. Hell yeah I'm paying someone (tweeks) to put and fit engine together, I can't put that **** together competently. The rest I think I can manage.

What is it you have? And what the plan?

Its not that hard to do just takes time and a lot of research. I built my motor about 15000 miles ago, but recently blew up as I gave it hell at 2.1bar and over 580hp. May break it as I just finished building my Evo and the Subs has been sitting for over 6 months

I'll come and pick you up then shall i?
Tbh I'm not competent in assembling engine together as I've never done it, so would rarther it be done right first time round, although it seems not overly complicated but all the same.
Modding it is my forte not assembling.

Finally, looks nice enough, are you going to make it road legal or just use a trailer and your barge to tow it?

Why bother with insurance mot and tax if it's just for track? surely better to have a trailer then if you have any problems on track it's not an issue getting home, I am sure you could pick up a trailer for what it costs to make it road legal.

Look at the title, weekend and track. Maybe odd blast to work in it.
A trailer is an idea later, but I have no where to store one (could hire or borrow when needed)
I doubt I'll do many track days tbh, only in summer. I just want it competent for track as I like to drive hard.

Cheers mate. Probably be a slow project like yours lol.

The quick release wasn't that expensive tbh around 6-8 quid.
Just type quick release bumper kit on ebay and there will be a few pop up.
I just chose a uk seller with decent feedback.

So more weekend than track, you just put the track part to make yourself look like a bad ***.
