You still have door cards?? You can remove the door bars too they weigh a bit, how heavy is your car and I mean on a weighbridge not it looks like 1350kg lol

I considered taking the door bars out, bit unsure if the panels would have rattled more though. I'm trying to strip the car whilst keeping the interior relatively stock looking (missus).

I guesstimate about 1275kg but I will weigh it soon.

Do you think with just 300lbft and a long 1st gear mine would just bog down?

Yes, the only solution is to give it death and side step the clutch. You are starting to find the limits of the 5spd.

Bare in mind most of your time is made up in the launch so you have to launch well to do anything

Quick engine start up vid, sorry about the shaky camera work, I didn't realise the steady function was turned off.

Went to York Raceway today hoping to beat MickyWRX's 12.46 @105

After an horrible first attempt at 17.4 @53.32 I managed a 12.56 @108.46 followed by a 12.54 @107.60

I then dug deep knowing that launching at higher revs would just make unexpected wheelspin worse I decided to change every gear at 7500rpm and hold 3rd over the line bouncing on the limiter.

I've never spun in the dry before, now it's in 1st and 2nd, all I can think is the thinner Low friction oils in the diff, box and engine have freed up more torque.

Ta bud. It's been frustrating waiting with every drag weekend being rained off.

1 out of 3 targets was a bit disappointing, but the 0-60mph time was very satisfying, especially with the iffy traction.

I don't under stand, if you're that keen to reach 11's why don't you strip everything out just so you can do a few runs and then be able to claim you done it.

You're removing speakers to save 1.4kg or whatever it is, why not remove the passengers seat / rear seats / you'll probably save around 20kg I would have thought.

Because what he actually needs is a lot more bhp but he has a poverty spec wrx with a weak 5 speed box so it's at its bhp limit .

LOL!

I'm just thinking would make a lot more sense to remove big items than a f00king speaker. And yeah I don't understand why he's only running 1.35bar of boost, if the aim was to make 350/350 why's he not trying to fit in more mapping sessions to reach / get closer to that target?

To be fair he hasn't done too bad getting 0-60 in 3.8 seconds.

To be honest after doing 12.68 in the cold damp I thought the car would walk 11.99 in the hot dry. The car actually wheelspun more this time around though.

I've asked the last 5 mappers for 1.6 bar of boost, all failed. I have some semi-slick tyres on order, which will stop the spinning and allow me to launch higher than the 5k I was launching at on Sunday. I'll probably still be shy of my target with just tyres but my 0-60 should be brutal.

The wheels won't spin therefore putting the strain on the WRX gearbox.....

Yeah I think from what fat-Thomas has said your gearbox is probably in for it...

Have you looked at those gearbox reinforcing plates? Would be worth a try!I think scubbay on here does them for under £200.

Not really as I slip the clutch. If the clutch smells I know I'm gripping. It didn't smell once Sunday so grippy tyres are a must.

What tyres have you ordered? What do you class as a semi slick?

You've had your car mapped 5 times?

Name who's mapped it, people will need to know who to avoid.
