As a bit of an outsider and a keen member of M5board.com, I can assure the group that this has gone very, very big already. It's the nature of internet forums, Facebook, word travels very, very fast nowadays.

From a purely practical point of view, if it is going to be such a big gathering, might it be a plan to arrange this with first aid attendance, and make the police aware ahead of time, the last thing we want is to be broken up for being a 'cruise'... I would not know where to start, but it seems some people on here are involved in event organisation?

Could I also suggest some sort of arrangement for charitable donations for those unable to attend, but who feel strongly about the situation? This has really touched A LOT of people.

TheKeano 29 August 2012 01:24 PM

So sorry to read this mate! Its all over every car forum i know (surrey scoobys, love4ford, fiestaownersclub, ukfn) and FB! Hopefully turn out to be a really good meet just as you promised him!! Thoughts are with you mate

samuelellis 29 August 2012 01:25 PM

Thread for arrangement details has been made - https://www.scoobynet.com/scoobynet-...anisation.html

just to keep things clean and tidy so we dont have bits and pieces and random offers of help lost in this thread

bustaMOVEs 29 August 2012 01:26 PM

Right guys I've persuaded zippy to let us take control to a bigger event and having words with someone at the moment to contact dave naxton to get somewhere like elvington or similar and not too far because we all know that capping the numbers is not going to work, he's had an overwhelming response to this and I'm asking if anyone else can arrange and airfield, track etc that will hold the unlimited numbers that will turn up to help.
It's not fair to turn down people that are dropping everything to come from all over the uk
Thanks so much for the response on this from zippy.

MadDanOMG 29 August 2012 01:32 PM

frayz 29 August 2012 01:33 PM

I won't be able to make this but amazed at such staggering support from the petrol head community.
Amazing show of sympathy and support for a family in an unexplainable situation.
The last 24 hours have shown what an amazing thing the human heart and emotion is.

Love to all the Zippy family xxx

Flyinspanner 29 August 2012 01:39 PM

Hey Zippy, I don't have the words to express my sorrow on reading your post.
I hope your son has a fantastic day, it's humbling to see and hear of the good wishes and help being offered by so many good people. Blessings to all in your family.

Hi buddy, tried replying to your message, but your inbox must be full.

I have news regarding our earlier conversation.

Firstly... Jackie at Prodrive would like to invite your little man, wife and yourself to their HQ in Banbury, to sit in Colin and Richards championship winning scoobies, and maybe check out the Mini WRC ;-)

And secondly... Angela, (Malcolm wilsons PA) of M Sport Ford World Rally, team would like to do something for you all. And with Rally GB coming up, who knows ;-)*

May I take this time to thank both "Prodrive" and "M Sport" for showing their wonderful support at this time.*

Can you message me your contact number asap, so I can forward onto Jackie and Angela... They can call you and get things arranged. Thanks.

Hope you all enjoy :)

Regards & Best Wishes

Steve*

Hello I don't have a scooby but just joined the forum as I read about this.

Unfortunately I won't be in the Country on the 8th but if your kid fancies a ride in a rather beefed up Delta Integrale just let me know as I live in Notts and go to the Peak district almost every weekend so quite close to you. Kids nowadays probably don't even know what an Integrale is though!

All the best mate.

Miq.

madscoob 29 August 2012 01:57 PM

someone name the event then . it needs a good name , perhaps people could get stickers made like we did for the JAKE JAMES IMPREZA INVASION, that little lad never stopped smiling all day, made it all worth it just to see his look of pure joy :luvlove::thumb:

I'm going to ask to have a mention as a minimum in the magazine to gain awareness

BANZAIMAGAZINE.COM

I have 3 children can't imagine how your dealing with this news

I hope you get an excelent turn out

shunteruk 29 August 2012 02:10 PM

Really sorry to hear this. Have been trying to sort out a group from my home club (JPOC, where I first saw this copied onto) to come up to the original venue.

However, now the venue and mainly the time has changed it clashes with a charity event we're already attending at 2pm in Worcestershire. We were planning on trekking up to this straight after it.
Sorry we can't make it now but we hope it turns out to be a great one.

MSPhotographic 29 August 2012 02:16 PM

SC008Y_MAD 29 August 2012 02:24 PM

I spotted a link posted on a Golf GTi Forum and had to have a look and post.

I am truly sorry to hear of your families bad news. Some of us can not even imagine what you are going through, let alone talk about it on a car forum for all too see. That takes a lot of 'something'. We all commend you for that.
It really is amazing that we all have a heart and all want to help as much as possible to make this day as special and fulfill this 11 year old boy with happiness.

Best wishes to Zippys family xxx

wr pete 29 August 2012 02:29 PM

Ed@Japspeed 29 August 2012 02:36 PM

Hi Zippy,

I do not have the words to describe how sad we are to hear your terrible news.

No Dad should ever have to go through what you have had to go through in the past and at present!

As a trader on the forum we are here to support the members and be part of the community.

As you may know we have a Team of Driftcars that compete in the British Drift Championship and we will be at TRAX show This Sunday!!

Team Japspeed would Like to Invite you and your Boy to the show and will provide Entry for both you and your son!

That's not all! Our Driver Shane lynch would also like to invite your boy to become a Team Japspeed member for the day and hang around with him and the other Drivers/Team At the show.

Obviously to look like he is part of the Team he is going to need a Japspeed T-Shirt! ...... We have it sorted!! As the drivers will be on hand to take Photos with you and your boy and to provide him with a signed Japspeed T-Shirt.

Hopefully this will provide you and your boy with a great day out and a lasting memory of the fun times.

I Have sent you a Pm and hope that you can make it!

regards
Team Japspeed!

Jules86 29 August 2012 02:37 PM

I posted this on the GTI forum, came from CTRO.

Twitter can help get this spreading to some big people with some nice cars if we can get a universal tag going, then trending?

Something like #ForConnor ?

Any ideas? If we can get a solid tag can people go out and spread this?

VictoriaYorks 29 August 2012 02:58 PM

I have sent a tweet to Ginetta with a link to this thread, as they are a Yorkshire based sports car company. Hope they come back to me

T25 DOC 29 August 2012 03:04 PM

Zippy my heart goes out to you and your family....I read your post yesterday and my heart sank...I wish you all the strength in the world...

regards
Andy and family
