clutch replacement cost

im going to replace the clutch in my 04 sti soon with an exedy pink clutch
what sort of cost am i looking at fitted?

nessscoob 01 January 2011 02:57 PM

Im in the same situation mate. Ive been told it could take up to 6-7hrs to do, but my mate reckons he did his himself in 4 hours. Don't know of an actual price though suppose it depends where you take it and labour rates

tubbytommy 01 January 2011 03:01 PM

im going to phone scoobyworks in loughborough on tuesday,
they list the job as £479 but not sure if thats for a 5 or 6 speed.
they say the job takes 3-4 hours

jimmy77 01 January 2011 03:09 PM

the garage i go to will do it for me £180 and ill supply the clutch and flywheel so nice saving there

nessscoob 01 January 2011 03:14 PM

Think im looking about that sort of price too. My mechanic charges £35 an hour labour plus VAT, so Im probably looking at £170 with me supplying clutch if its a four hour job. Happy with that.:thumb:

I paid £170 to get mine done on a classic .. with about £240 ish for the clutch .. not cheap .. but a world of difference ..

alcazar 01 January 2011 03:33 PM

Contact Harvey Smith on here for a good quote on fitting and a good price on the clutch.

Rob Day 01 January 2011 03:52 PM

Ive used these before, they have a unit In Blackpool.

They seem competitive on price although I havent used them recently.

As for clutch fitting:

I watched Scoobyteknix fit my old car (5 speed) on a ramp, and without going into too much detail he did the gearbox removal method and it took 3 hours with a brew break and ciggy in between.

At the same time a Classic STI turned up for the clutch install, but also a new water pump and cam belt. He did this on the floor (engine out obviously) in the same time as mine give or take 15mins

479 price includes clutch by the way

The Pink Ninja 01 January 2011 05:33 PM

Excedy 6 speed - pink box(up to 400bhp) clutch kit about £300-£350 for clutch kit alone, Then £150-£200 for fitting, Dont bother with the silver box one as it will probably start slipping with 360/360 IMHO

KLR16V 01 January 2011 06:00 PM

I paid £800 for a pink Exeedy 6 speed clutch complete kit and brand new subaru fly wheel all fitted .

Change the fly wheel as well not worth the risk of clutch judder

If the garage can skim, or have someone they use to skim it, and are confident, then there's no issue skimming it :thumb:
