How to setup coilovers?

Hi just wondering if anyone can shed any light as to the best way to adjust coilovers?

I just bought a 2001 bugeye with eibach coilovers and whiteline anti roll bar.

Just wondering where you take your measurements from in order to make sure both sides are sitting level as there are no marks on the shocks.Do you count threads or measure from the base of the shock to the bottom of the adjuster?

The car was setup on 18's but now has 17's on and needs lowering but i want to make sure its right.

And how much of a height difference should there be between front and rear?

The rear is sitting slightly higher at the minute but how much higher is best?

thanks
ben

Ben, I would suggest you take it to a specialist to do this; as the car will most likely need its alignment and corner weighting checked.

I will get it laser aligned afterwards.I am a fully qualified motorcycle mechanic so
I understand how the suspension works fully but i have never had to adjust a coilover shock on 4 sides as bikes only have one.I know how to adjust them just curious as to where you take the measurement from as i have not done it on a car.I have been reading up on it where the info is available.

Also does the whiteline anti roll bar have any effect on the ride height and corner weight adjustment as i only have an adjustable roll bar on the rear?
The bottom line is i am not looking for a perfectly balanced race setup as its a road car and under the usual road driving stresses such as shopping in the boot, sometimes i have passengers or crap road surfaces etc
