12 hour shift workers, how many breaks do you get.
 

We get one half hour, plus two twenty minutes.

Good or stingy.

i do 7.5hrs and get c**k all.... now thats stingy

Hi i work a 12hr night shift from 7pm till 7 am and get one 10 min break from half past eleven then a half hour break from half one till 2am

Hey im currently on my set of 12 hour shifts!!

I work 4 days on 4 days off- alternates between days and nights.

I get a 10 min break in the morning(fag) an hour for lunch and ten mins on the afternoon.

Just hope i can see it through till 07:30am........zzzzzzzzzzzz

i do 6pm till 6am and i am supposed to have an hour but i can take as little or as much as i want as there is only me here :D

I once worked in Motorolla which was 12hr shifts, 30mins lunch and 2 15 min breaks :mad: I was chuffed that I managed to do one 12 hour shift before telling them to shove their job up their arse and went to work for Sky TV :lol1:

Working Time Regs state .....that if you're an adult worker (that is, over 18), you'll normally have the right to a 20 minute rest break if you're expected to work for more than six hours at a stretch.:)

When I used to do them we got 30mins lunch unpaid and 2 x 10mins brew times (paid)

That's good.

I should take 1 hour but usually work it unless i've got something to do.

At my old place, when doing 12 hour ****s, we would work from 6pm-9.40pm, have 20 mins, then work from 10pm to 2.30am, have 30 mins, then work through to 6am. Pretty much the bare minimum.

when i did my rolling shifts, lates / nights. we did

0600 -13:30 - 1) 10 min break

13:15 - 20:45 - 1) 10 min break

20:45 - 0600 2x10 min break, or 1 20 min break

Good grief, you really are quite hard done by. I didn't realise how cushy I had it. Albeit, not nights, but 8 hour shift, and I get 1 hour unpaid lunch and 2 15 minute breaks.

well ive just spent the first 6 hours of my shift on here :D

Never realised I had it so cushy. 7-7 nights or days and we get 1.5hrs to take when we want (start, middle or end or split up into bits) and we can have a wander off around the place at any time if we feel a bit frazzled (vanishing for over twenty minutes raises eyebrows though).

Oh and we can pop up the petrol station or 24hr Tesco any time for bits and bobs as long as we get a decent packet of biscuits for the team.

yep ive spent my first 5 hours trawling through here.......gets a bit lonely round about now

we dont have "sanctioned" breaks, i.e. take a break when you can/if you can.

some days i hardly have time to eat, other days i wish i had more to do.

why what u do?

get a break every hour for a smoke then about 20 mins :norty: for the first break then 45 for the second :norty: then another 20 for the last break :norty: and finish about 35 mins b4 the end of our shift :norty:
and thats why the motor industry is in the **** :lol1:

well- on night shifts it aint that bad.
Get to park my scooby in a nice dry garage and can take fag brakes whenever i like.
Plus ive just watched saw5:):)

When I was 12hr shifts, we got 2 x 10min breaks. 10pm and 2pm, if you wanted a lunch break you had to work on the time at the end of your shift that you took for the lunch break.

The breaks where the only time the smokers got their nicotine fix. The phones were a piss take aswell, no incoming or out going calls were allowed. All mobiles had to be switched off and no reading material allowed to be taken in, like newspapers or mags. Also had to work under cctv getting recorded to catch anyone slacking off.

Im so happy that place went down the pan.

i work in the petrochemical industry, some days the plant just runs itself, other days it needs a lot of adjusting :D

2x 12 hr days,2x 12 hr nights then 4 off.
Breaks vary,usually very easy,nights are better.
2 x 1 hour lunch breaks,then in our control room either surfing or watching dvd's,just watched Bangkok dangerous now on Casino Royale.
One night we watched 3 Pink Panther dvd's,another the whole series of Rising Damp..
Smokers get breaks when they "need" them.
And yes we still moan......sometimes we have to work but the minimum is the 2 x 1 hour breaks:norty:

yep been on since 7.30 myself bud

im fine as i sleep all day :D but finish in an hour :D
