Bollocks, booked a holiday recently - they don't give your deposit back if you change your mind? and the idea that you can buy a car for cash and then go back a few days later and get a refund, with the exception of tossers abusing the distance selling regulations, that is also bollocks.

Its as simple as this and i know as i own a car sales and have been through this many times, if its a cash deal and there is no finance involved then ya fooked, if its a finance deal and you have not signed the docs or collected the Car then you are entitled to your full deposit back. Just been through a similar case last week and trading standard made me refund the guy or i would be in court.
but that still does not deter from the fact that you have wasted the dealers time, i have had 3 in a week before and it really pisses you off so try not to do it please

with regards to ya holiday i had a similar problem but i found out you could change the date FOC so instead of loosing my deposit i just moved the date to next year, infact you could do it indefinitly.

I bought a vehicle ``325i many years ago and it failed an mot. This is after giving me a brand new mot for a year, i was advised after about this garages dodgy dealings by a friend and went to mot the car myself 2 days later and it failed.

Trading s said its not their problem as it was my responsibility to check the vehicle was roadworthy, this means im now meant to be a ******* mechanic as well when going to buy a car. not to mention all the other cars this garage would have been selling ``unfit` for the road.

I hate car showrooms and motor dealers, but they are an evil we need to deal with more often than not. Dealers like lichfields and other firms are the exception and their reputations and service are second to non.

But that cant be said for the majority. They try to screw u as much as they can, if your naive then they will screw you even more.

This is why i prefer to deal with larger dealers where they do have something to lose or wil get their ass kicked by their superiors if something really goes tits up.
Avoid the del boys of the motor trade at all costs.

ive been through this twice with 2 other scoobs before i bought this one but both where £100 deposits both said i would loose the deposit but i just kept going in to see the managers and asking when im getting it back and also gave them my card details for a refund and to my suprise i got the refund on both cars.

correct and the reson why they do not have to refund it is because there was no credit involved if you got ya holiday on finance and changed your mind then they would have to refund you

well good luck to you then as i have worked for many main dealers and they were all worse than back street garages as the managers have targets to hit or there for the chop at least with small independents your dealing with the owner of the company and not some monkey !

if i was no longer in the trade i would only ever buy from small garages
except if it looked like a dump as they are normally the ones that rip you off and not being raciest but i tend to find the Asian run garages are the worst some of the stuff have seen beggars belief

some may give you notice, cant argue with that
most will have a prewritten terms and conditions blurb stating exactly "what is what"

i know a few valeters that actively send out bills for customers canceling at the last moment.

i have had times when what was supposed to be a fully booked week turning into a complete washout because everybody cancelled :cuckoo:
time wasted, staff sitting around doing nothing, other jobs lost because we could not fit them in (because we were supposed to be fully booked) money lost, out the door

this got so bad a few years ago that we started taking deposit bookings and never looked back, and never gave them back either :lol1:

all the timewasting bellends ended up going elsewhere, and we were left with the core group of decent customers, some people even say "ohhhh i dont want to leave a deposit" when booking this is because they know they will have a good chance of not turning in :lol1:


you also get the

"ohh i dont have any cash on me i will drop it in 1st thing in the morning"
9/10 they dont drop the cash in, neither do they turn up on the day

anybody saying the above gets removed from the diary and the slot is given to somebody else, only once did somebody actually turn in when we had given the slot to somebody else, and that was fun :lol1: :lol1: :lol1: they were very angry :nono: :cuckoo: :lol1: :lol1:
