...and if you have, any good? Due to a possible house purchase the CTR and the van may go to save some cash so I was thinking about a Warrior, ( 4 seats and a load area ) but can't get any info from the dealers regards fuel consumption etc. ( got the brochure - nothing in it). Anyone had any probs?
Cheers.:)

I think these look the nuts ! pimp it up, loads of chrome and some nice big wheels :D

R1916v 27 January 2004 10:04 PM

what you want to know?

Friend at work has just got one as they are doing up ahouse and her bf made her get rid of her car, a yellow megane convertible (T reg) so she coul dhave an L200, she loves it :)

She looks very silly driving though, and sticks out like a sore thimb in the works carpark :)

Wish 27 January 2004 10:10 PM

What you wanna know ive got a black one sitting on my drive now.
The fuel cosumption is about 25mpg, but mine has been chipped and only covered 7000 miles
It driver/rides better when there is some weight in the back of it. Bit bouncy when empty, but the looks it gets is amazing.

zip106 27 January 2004 10:33 PM

25mpg? Fookin ell....very Scoob-esc!
I fancy getting the 18" wheels and the twin headlights - looks awesome. I hope the looks will go some way towards compensating for a slow engine! My dealer did mention a chip that takes it to about 130 bhp for £600 + vat ??

Silver Knight 28 January 2004 06:50 AM

Don't bother with the 18's, they look smaller than the std 16,s.
Twin headlamps and sports mesh grille look good.
Power chip takes it up 30 bhp to 140, the dealer should have a demo with switchable pwr upgrade. Well worth the money.

Dont expect much of a deal as very few new in the country till may

Nat 28 January 2004 07:26 AM

ALl those crew-cab pickups are blatant "look at me i've got a small penis and a huge inferiority complex cars".

christian clark 28 January 2004 09:16 AM

Dude - forget the Mitsubishi mate , get yourself a Nissan Navara king cab brand new for about £16.000. Then take it to London Superchips, part with £350.00 and drive away with 175 bhp and loads of torque. Fit 275 tyres on original alloys, chrome bull bar, tint the windows and it'll look and go just like mine!
--As you for you - Nat21 - It is not a penis extension at all. When u r stuck in the snow you can stay there....waiting for a pick up truck to pull you out??? He he .......

DAVE-W 28 January 2004 01:33 PM

Sold the Scooby and got my warrior september last year...VERY happy with it.

Got the leather option for no extra cost and had the "fullbox" fitted (to make it look more like a Cadillac Escalade) ;) . Also had the front windows smoked to match the rears.

My fuel consumption is more like 35-40mpg....apparently fitting the cover on the back helps no end due to less drag?!?!

Recently had a letter from Mitsubishi offering me a deal on the power pack....needless to say it's gonna happen soon :D

People ALWAYS ask me if I regret changing the scoob for the warrior.....Nope....not once has it crossed my mind to be honest.

Dave

Mr Leigh 28 January 2004 02:18 PM

I got a Nissan Nivara twin cab with all the bits, looks great. The 4x4 mode is very very good. RWD mode is very very silly (fun) in the wet. Std engine will cruise at 100mph Top speed is 110 down a steep hill. Good views of traffic ahead make relaxed criusing. Best car/truck I ever owned with exception of Subaru. Plus its classed as a van for tax purposes, and at the end of the day we should all be doing our best to reduce personnal liability.

zip106 28 January 2004 04:38 PM

Christian, mate. Is that price for a UK or import? I've been to the Nissan dealer but they hadn't got any brochures to give me but they had a 2.5td on the front to look at. I wasn't that impressed with the look of it but it was standard. So did you buy new with the mods?
Cheers, zip.
...also, I need a Utility top on the back and I've not seen a Nav. with one on yet- do they look alright? I think they spoil the look of the Warrior but Hey, I've got to have one, so...

SirFozzalot 28 January 2004 04:50 PM

I have always heard good things about these but I have just had a chat with the guy who has got a warrior here and he tells a different story about it.

He was actually quoted as saying it is the worst car/van he has had (not sure of what else he has had), he has had nothing but problems with it and in fact it is going back to Mitsubishi again tomorrow morning and he is seriously trying to get rid of it due to the volume of problems he is having. Problems with the diff?, engine light coming on almost every journey, and yet dealer can't find a problem?

Might just be an odd ball motor that do occassionally come along.

si_kosta 28 January 2004 07:15 PM

We have 2 agency drivers at work... One has the Warrior, and the other has a Hilux 2.4 DiD.. Both of them agree the Warriors handling is awful copared to the Hi Lux.. The Warrior is slower, the warrior is just a posers vehicle "look at me, i need a big poncey pick up to make myself known!"

Anyone watch Top Gear?? These Hilux's are virtually indestructable!! Keep your sanity, dont get a warrior, get a Hilux, Better Handling, Quicker, and wont make u look like a prick!

G00ner 28 January 2004 07:18 PM

Two of my mates have them, both on their 2nd now and both love them .

Absolutely 1st class reliability, not one unscheduled expense on any of them, 2 Animals and 2 Warriors.

Mate with the Warrior has the chip and says it gives you a bit more shove in the back when going through the gears, but not much else, although for £600 what do you expect.

They also kept their older L200's and gave them to the missus's, one of the Animals has over 100,000 and still going strong.

And I know another 3 or 4 people with them as well and not one of them has anything bad to say about them, altho the local dealer is pap.

Even considered one myself, but there just aint the leg room for a 6ft 7" monster like me. :(

G00ner 28 January 2004 07:25 PM

and wont make u look like a prick!
Well I think a lot of scoob/evo/bm/merc/audi drivers look like pricks, doesn't mean they all are...

What do you drive anyway Si ? obviously something very elite...

And the Toyota although a legend as far as longevity goes they are still agricultural.

I kind of agree that the squeaky clean L200's look a bit poofy, but as a workhouse and general family run around they are hard to beat.

si_kosta 28 January 2004 07:32 PM

Well mate i drive a nice MY03 Renault Clio dCi Dynamique in black.. Yes i know its a girly car before you slate it, i dont like it, and only got it because i needed a small economical car.. And at summer its dissapearing outta my life for good for a Scooby or Mitsubishi Shogun SWB. I also drive a lovely Ford Escort 75D Van eqipped with Orange light, and the green decals of a certain north western utility company!!

I think the van looks better!!

PSI3 28 January 2004 07:48 PM

Hello Mr Goon, how are you? heard you like the Legacy.

zip106 28 January 2004 08:20 PM

As I said in my original post. I need something with four seats and a load area ( I don't want a van with a rear seat conv.!) that has got a bit of style as it will be my 'all-day, every day even when I'm not at work' vehicle. At the mo I've got a Tranny Connect for work and CTR for weekends but selling them both and buying one car will save me loads of cash for the new house.SO, what else is there to have? Any suggestions? ( and an estate car is out cos I create loads of dust in the van and need to keep the work area seperate from the cab, if you see what I mean...)
Ta, zip.

G00ner 28 January 2004 09:44 PM

Hey Si, I heard you liked the Evo ? ;)

Wish I was earning your kind of wonga to afford all these cars. :p

GTI 29 January 2004 10:19 PM

Agreed the Nissan jobbie looks very good! Much beefier! Sounds well priced too!

Franx 30 January 2004 09:14 AM

Did you look at a Defender 110 or 130 crew cab - same idea as the L200, but different. They look good with alloys etc. L200 or Navara is probably a better idea tbo.

Scoobsouth 30 January 2004 11:16 AM

Just to put a spanner in the works ,look at the new Isuzu Rodeo double cab denver.
It drives much more like a car than any of the other d/cabs and they do it in Auto too! and has ABS across all .

Ti-Andy 30 January 2004 12:32 PM

I had two L200's.
A 1999 L200 GL ( UK comercial model) for 3 years 67k miles (traded in for 9.5k)
And more recently a 2003 UK 4life version (22kmiles traded in for 11.5k)

There very good if your gonna work em but not so good if you want em for a family car. Not much room in the back and very bouncey with less than 200kg's in the load area. Pinfully slow and Juicey but reliable. Got rid of the 4life as it was always getting broken into (very easily). Look good and kids and laidies love em.

zip106 30 January 2004 03:01 PM

I know what I'm looking at here are not exactly fast, but the Isuzu has a 0-62 of almost 26 secs!!! And it doesn't have leather as standard or option and is a grand more. I'm wondering which of the 3,- L200, Navara, Rodeo would hold their value best. My bro inlaw had a 4Life that I used a few times and altough I'm 6'4" there was enough room up front and me kids not 2 yet so I guess she'll fit in the back okay?
Should I consider the Ford Ranger?
Edited to say - a Mitsi dealer has taken a grand OFF the price of a leather Warrior if I buy now and he'll take my van and CTR in p/x for decent prices .....decisions, decisions....
