Default BMW brake caliper colour

Now driving a 2004 bmw 330ci M-Sport

Opinions on this look for my calipers colour and logo? Instead of the makny browny colour they are at present. I don't want it to look chavy, but need to do something with them.

Iv posted this on a BMW forum and it was a big NO NO don't do it.

Why not just paint them black (hammerite) & forget the M sticker ?

Vinyl sticker on a caliper? Hmm, I can imagine that shrinking up like an old fashioned crisp packet on a convector heater .

Aren't the stock brakes just ATE 2pot sliding calipers? So little room for a sticker due to the cut-away for the pad and the securing strap.

Anyhoo, I know its an M-sport, but seriously, don't stick anymore M-badges on it than you need to. Especially on parts that are the same as those found on a SE. As IMO I don't think you want to draw too much attention to what are bone stock ATE brake calipers no different to those on a 316SE (ok, they maybe slightly bigger ).

As for colour, matt black. Maybe light blue like the BMW roundel badge, depending on the wheel and car colour. Just not red (every lad and his corsa has red calipers).

I was thinking of doing the same logo on my BBk on my M. But not got round to it yet. Yeah black or a kinda dark burgundy/red would look nice.

Plenty caliper decals on ebay claiming they are designed to withstand heat etc but yes any ordinary decal would surely not last two minutes !!

thoughts on the colour off caliper - love gloss black, what colour is your car - possibly do them same colour ??

Possibly: but they are then usualy coated over with a hard clear enamal (or similar temp resistant clear coat) to add durability and prevent pealing. Its not a case of painting then applying stickers - bit more to it than that.

Bit like stickers on a motorbike (done properly )...apply, then apply several thick layers of high temp clearcoat to prevent pealing and shrinking and give a smooth finish (i.e no ridges around the stickers).

However, original period Porsche branded calipers that were made by ATE were matt black (chemical blacking?) with the logo and fins embossed and machined in bare metal. : http://www.rebelracingproducts.com/i...Caliper930.jpg
