Default New to the forum! My Integra DC5

Hey Guys,

just wanted to say hello and show my face, only joined up today but I have taken a serious itching for a STI which may just have to be scratched...

Signed up to get to know more about these cars, as i would like to know the in's and out's of them and their flaws/what to look out for before i buy one.

hope to be a familiar face on here at some point!

Hello and welcome.

Pro's
Fast, secure, tunable

Cons,
Looks, expensive to run, wide boy image, stereo's a joke, much nicer metal out there for similar performance.

Nice Type-R by the way.

You'd be better off buying a second hand (Turbo) civic Type-R

I just think ive always wanted one.... and nows the time to go for it, after going out for a run in a friends PPP blob it sealed the deal for me.

I love looks, and dont need to worry about the stereotypes as i own a honda. (well used to it by now)

And thank you! I bought my DC5 in standard form in april 2014, since then i have done pretty much everything you can to it bar a supercharger/turbo. As i dont daily her she would sit in the garage for weeks on end and i just think its time for a change.

Love a Championship White DC5, me.

And yours looks great on those (OEM-apeing) gold rims. Stance is just right.

My advice, don't do it, the Honda is way nicer, more reliable, better on fuel and your wallet generally.

You'll regret it if you do.

I'd go and do a few track days and road trips across Europe taking in the famous tracks like the Ring and Monza if your bored, it will be a much better use of your money.

Lovely car BTW wish I'd have bought one instead of my **** heap Subaru Type R

It's not the 4wd/ turbo dump that is ultimately interesting, it's the quality of the chassis

Of course yo could go the other way and buy a luxobarge rs3

Yep impreza chassis is rubbish compared to your DC5 and the turbo rush soon gets old when you can't use it due to the crappy chassis, which is why everyone goes on about brakes so much on here.

thanks for the kind words guys, I'm not so much worried about the running costs etc as it would only ever be used on weekends, I just love the whole package of the subaru. I would love a spec C hawkeye in white, but most likley i would have to import one, however am partial to a WR blue too

the chassis couldnt be that bad on them! i do know it has a bit more comfort than my DC5 would, slightly more comfortable seat compared to the hugging recaros in mine and the subaru's suspension is a little more forgiving ( my fault really for buying a set of tein flex coilovers but still... )

I have never took any car on a track to be honest, maybe something i could plan for the future i guess.

Also i reckon i could be getting fed up with the DC5 is because of my J'S 70rr titanium exhasut system.... whilst it sounds glorious on full chat, it can be extremely annoying any other time, its literally the loudest car i have EVER heard in my life (theres a few links of the j's system fitted on youtube for anyone who doesnt quite believe how loud it is)

Ditchy you sounding like victor meldrew, i've been there and done it all subaru wise and chassis is nowhere near as bad as you make it out to be. A few choice mods and it soon becomes a very rewarding car to drive

Shame the Scoobs have become so chavvy. (and I had 2 of em!)
The DC5 is a nice looking car tbh.

There's better metal out there now - even the newer scoobs. but they are silly money to run now for what you get imho.

In 9 years of coming on scoobynet ive never heard the impreza chassis being criticised .

I chose to get a version 6 sti over a civic type r . Purely for the extra bhp and awd . I had a Mark 2 crx vtec before i got the subaru . I wish i kept it and rebuilt it .was a great wee car .i should of put it into storage thinking about it now

Nice integra btw what bhp is it ?

I think you had waaaaaaaaaaaay more than a 'FEW' choice mods on your last one didn't you change just about everything under the car and make quite a 'FEW' additions. .

Don't get me wrong I love classics and the way they drive out of the box but I'm weird like that because I grew up driving cars made in the 70's and 80's hence my latest passion for Golf mk1's, it would have been Ford Escorts if I could have found one above a 1.1 engine.

I've driven more cars than I can remember due to my job and I have to say Impreza is pretty crap, even a ford focus and Rover 200 have better chassis than Impreza, and that's before we get to things like Clios, Megans, MX5's, S2000, Porsche Boxters to name a few all of which can be had for less or similar money.

TBH if I had my time again I'd probably go for the S2000 which are extremely tunable or the supercharged / turbo MX5, way more fun to drive.

I had a dc2 (which I thought was quick) before I got my Impreza. I needed a practical car so I opted for a wagon.

If you go for a properly modified car, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

This guy really is fcuked in the head, the nonsense and bull**** that he spouts is comedy gold.

Well I'm here, I'm on my third Impreza and I'm happy with it! The current specimen is a long way beyond 400bhp and thanks to the additional mods to brakes and suspension it handles very well and is almost too fast for a road car. I think your Honda looks great by the way.

Thanks Paben, good to hear some postive feeback on a scoobie

i think 400bhp would be a nice figure to have, i would be happy with that. I think coming from a lightweight DC5 with my mods, a standard STI wouldnt seem too much faster? i would be happy with even 350bhp i reckon with handling mods.

Yeah take no notice of the Scoobynet village idiot. Not long back he owned a WRX wagon which was the fastest car on the road he now rents the new Vauxhall Viva, speaks volumes. He also once raced and beat a Ferrari in his wife's Rover (Yes he actually said that) and has mastered 50 martial arts fighting styles(He said that too) He is a proven Internet fantasist

There are a lot of knowledgeable people on this board, they're are the ones you need to listen too, not the likes of Walter Mitty.
