£60-70k on a special car that will hold value
My Dad wants to get a car sometime next year and he isn't in a hurry but he's asked me to help and has a budget of approx £60-70k. He's looked at an Audi R8 but luggage space is a main factor unfortunately.
The criteria is:
- Needs to be special/stand out
- Second hand
- Likely to hold value/appreciate
- Luggage space for 2 small suitcases
- Will also consider some sort of "super classic"
He doesn't have any idea hence the need for help.

360 would be a good shout low miles manual,
also hope you mean like an R34 v spec as its the only GTR i can see making any money,
Future classic will be rare n/a manual cars, 360 challenge stradale dunno prices of 355 but thats another.
Look at the price of any porsche 911 uptoo the early 90's frightening
But the bubble can always burst

Still a few years away yet but the american import rule of 25 years i think stops them rising the now,
Look at old original R32 GTR they are now eligable for entry into states and mint ones are trading at high prices,
I expect the R33 to be the same when it comes of age too

Thanks so far, Ferrari 360 looks very nice. Porsche 911 (993) very nice too but pushing the budget to £100k for a nice one, 993 turbo's £150kish
I don't think a GTR is his sort of thing but will definitely mention. Keep the suggestions coming.

I agree re 355 - stunning car, but quite small
A friend in the village has a 612, he paid that sort of money a few years
ago
Plenty of luggage space too
He reckons (and I believe him) that he has not lost a penny on it
And he deffo rags the beans off it

Problem with Ferrari's is the maintenance costs required to make sure it holds it's value. Plus they are the most millage sensitive cars on the planet.

TVR Sagaris, might have missed the boat there though.
Tuscans seem to be trading well at the moment too. Certainly rare things and never going to be any more of anything of the ilk of those early 2000's T cars ever again.

Thanks guys, lots of suggestions to look at there. But a 22B definitely isn't his thing! He did comment that a 355 Spider looks very nice but it's pushing it at £80k.
Interesting suggestion regarding a V12 Merc SL600. After a bit of research, it seems that a V8 Merc SL60 AMG is probably a better and more exciting car according to various forums and comments.
Only 50ish made in RHD
Porsche 968 Club Sport with factory decals? Surely that's gonna be worth a bomb in say 10 years(?)
Lots of these suggestions has opened doors to other ideas which is great.

Ok, so luggage space is an issue, but if I had that sort of money to spank on a car it'd be one of these:

Obviously the Singer 911s are the best cars in the world, but the above fits nicely in budget. I'm sure your old man has similarly impeccable taste.
