My new C63 - well new to me

So how are these in comparison to a tuned impreza? My 2.5 Impreza is running 350/380 and blows most things away. I've beaten much more powerful cars with it and it still makes me smile. The only car I found that couldn't beat (totally level with my car) was the new Aston Martin Vantage S.
I'm worried if I change to the C63 that it won't feel as quick as my Impreza and I'll untimately regret selling it.

In the past I've owned many STI's, i'd say the chances are an STI might well have the edge initially( definitely in the wet), but ultimately it wouldn't live with it.
The C63 just keeps going, and it doesn't ease off, its its relentless whether there's one person in the car or 4. Past experience with Impreza's was quite the opposite to that.
Then you have the comfort, and its generally a much nicer place to be.

Yes a great looking car and go really well. I had the estate version about 4 years ago and could not get much more than 5-7000 miles out of the rears and 16mpg.
I now have the E63 with the new 5.5l and 550bhp and getting around 20mpg and 10,000 miles out of the rears.
Amazingly fast cars in the dry and straight lines. A real handful in the wet!

my mate had a C63 Coupe with Performance Pack for a 24 hr test drive as he was thinking about jacking in his 997 for one. Yep it shifted - the acceleration between 70-100 was the same as between 30-60. Mental.
Would have one in a heartbeat. He didn't by it though because he said he couldn't find a comfortable driving position. Maybe the saloon is different?

My mate has one and I've had a go in it obviously. Sound is so intoxicating and you don't even have to be going mental fast either.
I'd just sold my R35 and toyed with the idea of the C63 estate but ended up with the RS4 avant (got a dog too) as I live at the bottom of a very steep hill and need to get out for work, plus I think the RS4 avant looks heaps better than the C63 estate.
I if was picking a saloon and didn't have to use it in all weathers I would definitely opt for the C63 though. The seats are better, much more snug. The RS4 seats must be designed for larger framed people. I can't get low enough in the RS4 either, the seat just feels an inch or 2 too high.
I'll check back on this thread in a few months when our 'indian summer' has ended (if it ever starts) and see how you feel about it when the roads are constantly wet etc.

Ive got that new car Itch again.... i know I'm mad but i keep looking....
Either that or i go sensible and get either a CLS 250 or wait for the estate Golf R and save some cash
But first i need a new Full Frame Camera... and the one i want is a chiffon fortune... but i know if i compromise i,ll hate myself...

But the noise it makes on full chat is awesome, could hear it over my exhaust. :-)

ive had fast imprezas and now a c63 and the merc is head and shoulders above the impreza...the semi auto gearbox or paddle shift is a winner every time...you plant your foot and this thing blasts into orbit
now through the twisties forget it the impreza will win every time but they are 2 totally different cars and for blasting it the 6.3(.2 for the pedantic)is sublime
in standard form the exhaust sounds great but pop a full valved exhaust on there and its exceptional soundtrack makes you grin all day

But I do agree a better car in most respects.

its the old saying
theres no replacement for displacement
an sti is never going to like sustained high speed its not what they were designed for
theye are very different cars but take the limiter off and these are potential 200mph cars

Sorry I missed this thread Urban, congrats on the new car! I have the estate version and love it. I often ponder which engine I love more, the 63 amg or the V10 in my previous E60 M5. Though the latter was even more ferocious at the top end of the rev range it lacked some pull low down so the AMG takes the trophy for all round ability and character.
You may know this already but it took me a few months to discover. In manual mode if you want to drop two gears at once, don't pull the flappy paddle twice, the gearbox isn't as slick as some and so often won't respond.
Pull the paddle and keep it pulled, it will then always drop two gears.
Have fun!

Wonder if that works in the 45 must try, I just double pull it at the moment.
Ding if your in C or S and change gear, does a pull on the right paddle for 3 seconds pop it back into auto?

Keeping the left pulled down to drop down two gears has worked a treat though. Your gearbox maybe better than mine as my car is a 2014 model but when I used to flick the left paddle twice quickly it often didn't respond and would only drop down one gear.
I'm still naffed off that they don't make a 4wd C63 AMG S. In wagon form it would be my ultimate family transport.
