I think they pushed the boundaries too far with DH4. Too many "yeah right" moments for me.

I loved 1 and 2. They didnt have much that wasnt believeable and they still produced some great films.

I guess they have to cater for todays CGI youth to get the audiences

1 2 and 3 were written as 'die hard' stories, but the fourth one is just a generic action movie with John mcclane as the main protagonist. It's based on a book 'farewell to arms' which is about cyberterrorism and nothing like the film.

However I did thoroughly enjoy it tbh but it's easily the worst of the four and toned down the swearing/violence to get a pg-13 rating so kids could go to the cinema...

Die Hard 4.0 - good action film, TERRIBLE Die Hard film.

If you were to watch Die Hard followed by Die Hard 4.0 there's no way you'd think it was the same franchise! If the next couple are going down the same path then

It's a fancy word for "central character"

"A protagonist (from the Greek πρωταγωνιστής protagonistes, "one who plays the first part, chief actor"[1]) is the main character (the central or primary personal figure) of a literary, theatrical, cinematic, or musical narrative, around whom the events of the narrative's plot revolve and with whom the audience is intended to share the most empathy"

Huge fan of the first film due to Mcclanes initial reluctance and the really well-drawn villains especially Hans Gruber. Some of his dialogue is inspired!
