For anyone with clear skies this evening......

Dear AuroraWatch UK subscriber,

Red alert: aurora likely.

It is likely that aurora will be visible by eye and camera from anywhere
in the UK. Viewing aurora requires clear, dark skies away from light
pollution.

Interesting as this might be, I'm struggling to get my head round the connection to the mowing of lawns.

An alert was issued last month that was a false one because one of the sensors they use got a false reading by a lawn mower close by.

Weird the link you posted says not much activity is due but there have been a few stories about it being a good night to look out for it.

http://www.derbytelegraph.co.uk/nort...ail/story.html

here may be an opportunity to see the Northern Lights over Derbyshire tonight - as the phenomenon is set to be visible across the whole of the UK.

Aurora Watch UK has issued a red alert - meaning the Aurora Borealis is likely to be visible by eye and camera from anywhere in the country. It is thought the best time to take in the stunning spectacle will be between 10pm and 11pm tonight, Wednesday, October 26.
