My electric shower wont heat up today went throught problem solving seems to be low pressure how do i fix this cheers

When i take cover off and push white pressure plunger down with a screwdriver it heats up

What has changed in your area to reduce water pressure?

Either the water pressure has dropped or the shower is on its way out

Hi dave not sure its water pressure as washing machine is fine and taps seems fine just going by a google search telling me to hold the white plunger rod down to see if it allows water to heat which it did

If you can, I'd take the old shower off and see if there's plenty of water coming out of the pipe (obviously isolate both the water and electrics properly first).

If so, and if it's over two years old, check the price of a new shower. They all come with a two year guarantee and if you can get one for fifty or sixty quid (Screwfix, B&Q, etc), it's usually not worth buying the parts.

Screwfix usually have PDFs of the installation instructions so you can try to get one with the incoming water supply and cable in the same place, which should make it easy to fit.

I'd get a Triton one if you can (or Mira if you're well off) as I've fitted dozens of both and rarely have any problems with them.

Teaching granny, but don't go for anything over 9.0kW (and I'd stick to 8.5) as your wiring probably won't be big enough to cope.

I take up the cover and see whats problem inside. But mostly, it'll just take a few turns of screwdrivers. But buying a new one won't fix the problem.
