It's just occurred to me that Donald Trump is America's version of Jeremy Clarkson. He is very wealthy, a very successful TV star, is very good at speaking to people who otherwise feel unheard, but is casually xenophobic and chauvinist, has a nasty temper and no experience of government - fairly harmless in a reality TV star and a big part of his appeal, but when some Brits say "Jeremy Clarkson for Prime Minister," everyone understands that it's a joke.
The party that previously gave us Abraham Lincoln is about to name the American Clarkson as it's candidate for the highest office in the US. Al Qaeda couldn't do that much damage to America. - John Orchard
Good call, I thought, particularly the comparison with Lincoln.
Face it; any country thick enough to elect an out-of-work, second rate B film actor, twice, laud him, then allow Dubya to nick the election with dodgy votes, twice, will elect anyone.

I thought you and Trump had a great deal in common, Jeff.
There were bets being taken that Obama wouldn't survive until Christmas when he first became President. Similar bets for Trump I expect although a different group might be responsible for dropping him!
What I wonder at is, who is going to surround him if he makes it to the white house and just how that relationship would work - I'm sort of imagining hes the sort that doesn't like delegating
Donald Trump is Americas version of Nigel Farage and look how well he did. He didn't win his party many seats but took over 8million votes from other UK parties. The things he says joe blogs agrees with.

Nigel Farage?
I fear you are simply labeling, again.
Farage's party stands for OUT OF EUROPE, that's all. UKIP...what part of "Independence" don't you get?

Yes, he certainly appeals to the same demographic - white under educated working class
In a way a symptom of the failure of modern economics to deliver any progress to the people who hold the sh1tty end of the stick
A protest vote that simply wants to stick it to the political class

Deary me, why can you left wingers not hold an argument without resorting to abuse?
Numbskull isn't abuse, it's a term that can be said in many ways to people with no offence meant but obviously you don't think that way. Your post was more abusive than mine
