40 minute Mercedes drivers standoff
Anyone else seen this? A stuck up woman in a convertible vs an old man who can't reverse and shouldn't be allowed to drive. It's the perfect mix for a disaster!

We've the same situation down the road here , except its just a bridge over the road .
Iv had a women vehemently refuse to back up completely unrepentant even though she hadn't the right of way .....typical !!
The sign has no colour on it any more that direction but otherwise its obvious you should give way
This sounds different though - clearly should have traffic lights / additional warnings

Question is, whose mum or wife is she, and which one of you is that senior chapstick; from here? Come on, own up!

I've been there' Woman refused to reverse into a layby 2metres behind her, it was a Merc too!!
So I had to reverse 50metres...in doing so I misjudged the bend and got stuck in a ditch and she moved forward preventing me from going forwards again to get back out. I told her to stop moving it...Both hands out clearly and slowly mouthing STOP as I tried to rock the car back and fourth out with the half meter of space in front of me...I rock backwards...she moves forwards again!!
I did get the car out the ditch with inches to spare from her car...only for another car come up behind me.....Both of us ended up having to reverse the remaining 20 metres. Just because this silly woman in her little A-class couldn't reverse; I honestly don't think I've ever been so livid.
The lane which I live off must have a local Councillor living/driving up it, because of recent years its been having various attempts to "aid" traffic.....One being a give way to oncoming traffic on the narrow sections....in a place where you cannot see any oncoming traffic. Quite regular people lock horns, I've even heard the odd verbal argument from my back garden..... when I drive down there I just drive as far over on the wrong side of the road as I can with my lights on, by doing so cars coming the other way can see me well before they reach the narrow bit - and as I'm already committed and past the give way sign they have to stop....it was better when it was two way with no priority.

I see this every morning on the school run - women in Q5's, discos etc who can only drive forwards, with about 3ft clear on either side they stretch their necks and check both mirrors as if they are squeezing an artic through a narrow gateway with inches on each side.

You know, living in semi rural and having to drive around in rural means driving on narrow village lanes. It's not just me, but most women here are quite good at reversing. How many times I've met some arrogant farmers in their massive dumpers etc. who seem to think they own the lane. I always reverse as far as I have to, because I know it would be too much for them to do it. I meet considerate car drivers on such lanes as well who kindly back off for me, and let me pass.
I did once experience a strange man near school gates who wouldn't back off for about a minute. I honestly had no room to back off, or I certainly would have. He did move, but didn't look happy. Oh well. You get all sorts.

I think so. The man was elderly, and that could have been the reason why he was a bit frightened to reverse. She could have given him some respect and reversed. I bet she knew how to reverse, but she was just being awkward, I think.

Some foolish sense of pride, or over inflated ego?
Even with people reigning down on her, she was still too proud to budge.
It's easy, you just slide it into reverse and go back, hardly putting yourself out.
Sounds to me there might be more to it.

Yeah, my father told me a great bit of advice, when I past my driving test (quite a few years ago)
Simply
"Leave your ego on the pavement"

Oh come on! The old man is just playing silly buggers, of course he can reverse. Just play acting that. How did he get it out of his drive? or how does he normally park?
But still both plain idiots.
