Hi All,

Can anyone help me..

i am thinking about building a shed in the garden, and wanted som idea's etc.

My Garden is fully decked and 5m wide.

The shed size will be 5m wide x 2.2m deep and 2.5m high.

I was going to split into 2, one side will be to store 3 Cycles, other for other storage maybe.

I was thinking about using ply wood and painting this, also if possible put a cheap window and maybe a nice door on the front. Wanted a nice finish that does not look cheap?

as this will be seen from inside the house though the bifold doors.

Questions:

How can i calculate how much timber i need for the frame?
can i make a frame that takes up the full width? as it would need to be made standing to get the sides and back on?

Any other input on the above?

Make frames in rectangles with upright stud on 400 or 600mm centres as sheets come in 2.4metre lengths. Then work out how much length is needed. Use 4x2 inch tanalised timber for rot protection. If building onto ground directly whether soil or slabs put brick damp membrane down so moisture doesn't rot base out.
