Wills not worth the paper they're written on

Only joking. In my will everything I have goes to my kids. My cats are my treasure, so they get divided between the two as well. This means one cat each.

I disagree with the judge on this one. In reading the article, it was clear that the mother had no desire or intention to leave anything to her daughter. Quite why she thinks she's "due" something by virtue of being her daughter is beyond me.
I also would presume that this is legally aided as no-way does £500k last 10+ years when there is a legal fight going on

The Times editorial today agrees with the judges:
Excerpt:
"The three judges on the Court of Appeal panel have weighed the fine balance between the testator’s right to dispose of her assets as she chose and her obligation to provide for her daughter. Their decision to emphasise the latter has made a material difference to Mrs Ilott’s circumstances and should encourage more suits like hers."
What obligation? Doesn't that cease when the child becomes an adult? I have to disagree with The Times on this.

What the actual ****?! How on earth could the judge conclude that the deceased should make 'reasonable provision' for her 54 year old daughter. That to my mind is a abuse of a poorly worded piece of legislation if ever there was one (a point touched on in that article).

Sadly, old people can be rather bitter people.Sure my mother will be leaving everything to donkeys because she doesn't like my ex wife,my brothers wife,my sisters husband, her sisters and brothers etc etc lol
But that's fine.To make a point beyond the grave is perhaps even more rotten.lol
