i'm not one to defend bankers

and I don't know any of the facts, other than what is in that web article

but it was a "team building" exercise

and anyone who has had to go to one off those knows they can be horrific

maybe they were all told to prepare a group play around confrontation etc who knows

I bet the **** head who thought that was a good idea is not very popular

but worth losing you job over -- maybe maybe not

Insane behaviour aside...

Does "Bankers" just mean anyone who works in a financial institution? Is the cleaner a banker?

I'd ask why no one is allowed to have a laugh at work anymore.

They worked in the legal department; their job is covering up dodgy dealing from the bank. Hardly innocent cleaners.

They are employed BY A BANK. And if you deny HSBC isn't constantly doing shady business, you are beyond blind.

We turn down clients if we think they aren't ethical; I wouldn't ever work with a mainstream bank.

Sure, but the article isn't about "bankers" as your title suggested. Those innocent cleaners as mentioned above are also employed BY A BANK, that doesn't make them bankers!

It does because it rhymes with w**ker.
You're clutching at straws again Jon.

Everyone hates the criminal banks. This sort of behaviour is just typical of their ethical standards.

It's not something I would have joined in with as it's not funny in any way, but equally I wouldn't have videoed it and passed it on for any reason either.
Sad on both counts.

Very little to do with bankers per se though, similar nonsense goes on everywhere, but trying to link it to bankers is a win-win for certain people.
Every time something bad happens I'm certain the 'bankers' are involved somewhere?

What so now their bankers again , well if you're gonna go by that logic, that makes you a banker too, I can't argue with that.

Interesting logic. I do find it amusing how you defend banks.
It's like a Tesco cashier vehemently defending the unethical buying tactics of the Tesco board.

Come on, you're a junior lackey aren't you? TBH I'd admit it because at least it means you aren't one of the true criminals.

It's your logic I'm applying! And what if I am a junior lackey, what's that got to do with it? Typically you lose an arguement and resort to personal attacks.

I'm just curious as to why you defend banks so much? Even their most obvious, blatant crimes; you just try and explain them away. If someone is an idiot in PR (all too common), I'll call them an idiot, not defend them to the hilt.

You'd do yourself a lot of favours if you stopped defending every single abhorrent act carried out by the all too often criminal banks. If understand slightly if you were senior management but you're not.

What hell are you on about, where exactly have I defended their "blatant crimes" and "just try to explain them away"? You titled this thread to suggest that bankers were responsible for the video in the article when in fact they were lawyers. Let's be clear, there are many roles within banks, not everyone working in a bank is a banker!! Also I'm not defending HSBC, I'm highlighting your sheer ignorance again!

Nope, you're trying to use a small point to defend them again. It's pedantry on a grand scale. Your worship for them is quite frankly more blinkered than any religious zealot could muster.

Okay so it was the BANKS lawyers - who are heavily involved in the operations of the bank.

They are all f**king idiots.

Banks hire lawyers for a lot of different reasons, not just to oversee the terms of corporate investments. You do know that, right?

They are in-house, HSBC employed lawyers. You do know that, right?

Mea culpa, poor choice of words in my previous post, substitute 'hire' with 'employ'. The point still stands, banks have many other uses for the services of lawyers than merely to oversee the terms of corporate investments. Do you know specifically what use HSBC had for the services of the lawyers involved in this rather bizarre but ultimately pretty trivial incident?

That's right LAWYERS, NOT bankers. Well done, you see, that wasn't so hard was it! So now that's cleared up, you've gone from one sweeping generalisation to another, so now anyone involved in the operations of banks "are all f**king idiots"! Your ignorance knows no bounds!!

They were sacked by HSBC. They were therefore EMPLOYED by them. Trivial? I don't think so. Neither is money laundering, mass tax evasion and the countless other shocking things they have been found guilty of.

Oh and because we dare to question them, they threaten to leave the UK.

Beyond help.

Jon - you're a low rent lackey working for a bank. You are genuinely mad yet when things get a little tricky you play the "I'm not from the UK" card. You defend the most abhorrent actions of the banks, clinging to tiny details to try and prove your nonsensical points.

I run a decent PR company with my wife, dealing with very large companies you will come across every day. If I want "lessons" from someone, a cashier, 3rd line IT support or whatever the hell you waste your days doing is NOT someone I will call.

The thread is very simple - once again a bank has been caught out being very naughty. I don't care whether it was the CEO, the cleaner or a lackey like you - they REPRESENT their company and once again, they messed right up.

Now digest that for yourself and come back when you actually grow a pair and come up with a single, original thought. Oh and you also stalk my posts, banging on about me "boasting" about my life when I say the most minor of points. You're not only bloody useless, you're also another green eyed troll.
