What are the chances for a uk amnesty like Obama is proposing / forcing in the US, as we here seem to be moving ever closer to shutting borders and in view of the overwhelming number of cases that are clogging up the system

I guess it depends on how prepared those in charge are to open Pandora's box and accept just how many people have really turned up. There will still be illegals around amnesty or not. Better to have some traceability than not but the initial figures could and probably will be a little eye watering I think even with my limited knowledge on it.

The problem is that once they declare themselves they can't work in the black economy & not pay tax.They can't live in illegal accommodation,they can't be living off criminal activity or be known criminals or it would be the same as our Government condoning this if they know about it.

Just don't see it has much incentive for many of them.

Not to mention the fact that most of them would rather be working legally, and not being exploited at less than Minimum Wage in terrible conditions. Believe it or not, the proportion of criminals amongst immigrants is probably pretty much the same as it is amongst the locals.


That said, of course it won't happen. With everyone flying off to the Right to stop UKIP, a proposal to brand them is much more likely.
