Question on induction kits
Got my 2010 hatch sti in for turbo back decat exhaust next month then I'm going to get an induction kit/panel filter before It gets remapped. What induction kit would people advise on getting please? How hard are they to fit? Thanks

Hi salsa thanks for the reply, I've just had a quick look on the net and couldn't find anything, where would I be able to get myself one? What do you think about the k&n typhoon? Seems a bit pricey but any good?

Yea I have read that also about the standard air box. I might do that to be honest because the inductions kits are pricey. What decent panel filter would you recommend? K&N? Yea I won't be anywhere near 400hp anytime soon unless I win the lottery!

yeah i agree on dry filter.
i use the HKS Super Hybrid but thats just personal choice as it was the first filter i bought on my first scoob years back so just stick with them, plus they fit easy as they come in a plastic cartridge

ok thanks looks like the dry pf has the vote. is there anyway of getting that induction noise still with just changing the pf? I've read something about removing the snorkus whatever that is?
Also am i ok to fit the pf when i get it or is it something i should fit just before the remap?
thanks again

I had a K&N panel filter (About £35) in mine until I came across a decent deal on an AEM induction kit (About £220 I think). Hard to tell the exact difference as I fitted a ProDrive decat and had it remapped at the same time, though it will make more of a difference the more mods you do.
I've got the Mishimoto kit on mine, can be had for about 180 on eBay.
As with Bulldog, mine was fitted at the same time as a load of mods (and engine rebuild in my case) so it's hard to know how much difference it made on its own.

If you're going turbo back it might be worth noting that Andy Forrest recommends a CAI on the hatch at that mod level (but not on earlier models as the air boxes are different)

think I'm going to just get a cosworth pf for the time being, not planning on going for big power at the minute so a pf will do the job. cheers for that fatboy, good read, mines a 2010 so won't need a CAI according to that andy forrest link.

No need for a remap if just fitting a new pf.
Yes you can take the white plastic section from the air box that sits behind the bumper under the drivers side headlight.

if a suspicion that the document only references 2008-2009 as thats the time it was originally written but not updated, hatches all use the same intake. Might be worth asking him outta curiosity

Thanks abx, after ringing round half of the U.K trying to get a cosworth panel filter turns out everyone including rogerclark are waiting for them to come into stock and have being for a while. I can't get in touch with andy Forrest at the minute, couple of places recommended the Perrin induction kit but again pricey and not sure it would be worth forking out for possibly no difference in performance to pf. Will wait on the cosworth for a while if not will go with K&N. Thanks for all the advice

If you aren't in any hurry I would just keep an eye out. It's always cheaper to buy something when you don't actually need it and you can afford to wait. I got a brand new (still in the plastic wrap) Mishimoto CAI on here for 100 quid because the owner had a change of plans.
