Righty guys, I have a concerning question and would like to briefly pick your brains....
I've a 330s which I have just got back after having an engine rebuild. It's been fully forged with arp studs etc. it has a cosworth panel filter, however it still has its cat on and the turbo and tmic are all standard. Now I do plan to go further with the car. But here is the problem, after running the car in i went down to have the 4k rev limit removed and the new map put on. The car only made 300bhp. Is this to be expected? They told me they couldn't get anymore out of it and the turbo was maxed out etc. So after all the work the car now makes 25bhp less then it did standard? Is this normal?

seriously? who did the work?
My 330s.. standard with only a ProR air filter was RR'd at 319bhp but had 359lb torque.
down by 6bhp on list figure.. this could of been due to weather conditions etc.. but was up 12 lb on the torque figure.

It's probley cost me no more than a perrin one either

I like the perrin stuff too.. just wanted to be a bit more exclusive with the STi one ... and being the silver version too and not the usual red ends. lol
It's worth keeping an eye on eBay. There is a company in Kidderminster (autodirectwarehouse) who now and again sell the mishimoto for 80 quid. Yes 80! The only downside is they only have the silver one. I held out for the red one (which looks remarkably similar to the AEM ) and got one off a member on here for 100. There are bargains to be had if you look around.
Stu
I'm sure they are legit but not sure how he manages to get them so cheap! I've not had them side by side but to me the Mishimoto looks almost identical to the AEM.

Probably find that the standard stereo is not powerful enough to power any decent speakers, in the MY11 Subaru used Pioneer as an upgrade which is far superior.

I have the Pioneer AppRadio and it is a big improvement over the standard Clarion multi-disc unit. Would like to upgrade my speakers as well though if anyone has any suggestion.

Hmm I need to see what stereo unit options I can upgrade to , then I'll see about speakers. I would like some bass to my music that's all. I'm not wanting full blown sub bass, but as it currently stands there is zero bass no matter how much I play with the equaliser . It has sub settings so guessing I could wire a sub and amp up to this unit and that would solve my problem but I'm worried the speakers and head unit wouldn't be able to keep up because even on full volume on aux it's terrible .. And on radio is not much better lol

Not sure if this applies to the earlier models, but maybe worth a try......

Hi mate,
Scoobyclinic did all the engine rebuild work and also did the remapping.
300bhp was the max they could get, they told me that different rolling roads were different and get different figures. They also stated that the 325bhp figure on the 330s range was usually a load of crap and that they've never had a standard 330s make more than 300 on their rolling road. I was told that during trials and development of the 330s model, Subaru probably struggled and got the odd one or two cars to make 325bhp during testing but then just went ahead with the model with any car that had the 330 mods. God knows what the standard sti's were making then!
It was a little upsetting but what can you do, I did get it on the rollers before the engine completely blew and it made 331bhp with head gasket failure haha. But this was on a different brand of rollers!

So what's the next step if you want more bhp?

I'm glad I didn't go to scooby clinic for my rebuild now, this has confirmed everything I felt after speaking to them on the phone briefly about y options
They wasn't very helpful or interested at all
However Area52 in Mansfield were the total opposite and couldn't do enough .
Mines going on the rollers on Monday ! Can't wait hopefully I'll make more than 300.

That's really strange if you had yours at Scoobyclinic as well. Something seems very fishy to me...
Next step for me is to fit this decat downpipe that's just arrived along with an AEM cold air intake and take it somewhere else locally to me possibly Evotune in Durham and get it mapped there instead.
Not sure if I'm getting this correct but as far as I'm aware, the 330s had the 2nd cat removed so this should be cat free once this decat downpipe is installed? I have no desire to change the prodrive rear box as I think it's size and sound are perfect. My sure if this will hinder me from making more power?
Because of the engine rebuild I feel it's a waste not to stick a larger turbo on there eventually along with some bigger injectors, Perrin fmic etc but it's just a case of where do you stop you know?? Modding these imprezas can be never ending by the sounds and you can be constantly throwing all your money into this, it's crazy. I think I may stop at 400bhp and call it a day.

ADW,
you are correct that the second pipe is already removed on the 330s.
and your worries about the prodrive system not making as much power as another brand i wouldnt worry about this. Area52 asured me of my same doubts and that the fact is the prodrive system is 2.5" the same as many so unless you aree going to go with 3" then you wont see any difference, and with 3" you may loose back pressure so not really gaining that much at all.
i would decat it and keep the prodrive system thats exactly what ive done. the decat will make it slightly louder anyway!
with the AEM kit and decat, you should be looking 380+ anyway ! then it would be time to change turbo and IC for more gains.

Can anyone recommend a cheap turbo option for circa max 450bhp??
Would like the sc46 but 1600 seems expensive. What's the other turbo options that Require the least work to install??
