My Jdm Widetrack
I thought I'd do a thread for my late 2004 Jdm Widetrack which is a replacement for my 2004 Sti Type Uk that was written off last year when someone hit me from behind.
Well the car was imported towards the end of 2015 and was purchased by myself in October 2015.
In the auction room in Japan.
In the docks in Japan.
The car was completely standard apart Type RA Enkeis and optional extras such as rear privacy glass, Sti door sills, wind deflectors and rear strut brace. The car even still had the flare in the passenger foot well.
The car was serviced when I picked it up, then had fog light conversion and 4 new Michelin PS3's fitted. I then had the car mapped for uk fuel. I had a thatcham alarm/immobiliser fitted. I also fitted new Godspeed J Hook discs with pads all around.
I fitted my PSI3 monitor and Jdm hazard switch from my old Impreza and ordered a pink jdm badge too.
The car how it stood.
My old Type Uk compared to the JDM.
I then ordered a HT Autos V Limited style front splitter.
I also had an original dealer sticker reproduced as the original was getting tatty. I had a friend in Japan translate all my paperwork and he found the only Japanese keepers address and also the supplying Subaru dealers address. He sent me links on google maps and found my car on the drive in Japan.
I then had a titanium key cut.
Unfortunately my radiator then gave up with a crack in the plastic top so I replaced this with a Mishimoto alloy one.
Then I bought some OEM wheels while to use while I had had the Type RA Enkeis refurbished in Anthracite.
I also gave the car a quick headlight restoration.
I was then looking for an exhaust system. Being a daily and carrying my toddler in it, I didn't want it to be too noisy and stumbled across a HKS Silent Hi-Power system with HKS downpipe with sports cat.
This October the car was given a full service using only quality parts!
This week I've had a Roger Clark Motorsport fuel pump and the full exhaust system fitted, whilst it was mapped.
The car is an absolute pleasure to drive, and this is how it stands at the moment.
Thanks for reading!

Did you import the car yourself?
Did you have to wait long for the right car to come up?
I've started the process for a Type R but being really picky so might be waiting some time!!

Thanks for the nice feedback. EddScott, the car was purchased from Kas on here. He imports cars from time to time. He imported it a couple of months prior to me purchasing but it just sat in a garage.

Thanks guys. I absolutely love the wheels but I'll be waiting till after winter to put them on. Car feels fantastic. Very smooth power delivery and pulls well in every gear. The car was road mapped so unsure of the exact power, but the mapper said the engine was good and strong and estimated around 340bhp tops. He said I can see him at a rolling road for any extra tweaking.

The exhaust is very quiet when driving normally. At 70mph in 6th you can here the radio clearly with the volume low down on 4. When you put your foot down it does open up and get louder so a perfect mix

Not much of an update, can't wait for the weather to warm up so I can finally put these back on.
Bought some black balancing weights so you can't really see the weights on the dark inside of the rims.
Had the bonnet scoop painted as I had a little paint flake, and the roof painted as there were some chips by the windscreen and didn't want it to rust.
Also the bulb in my fog light conversion was looking pink so found this LED one that's brighter and really red.
So impressed with the fog light bulb I've ordered another in white for the reverse light, and that is how it stands for the moment.

Not updated in quite a while so thought I’d better. So bought a 3D printed fuel cap holder from someone on here. I quite like little touches like this.
I noticed I had a little corrosion under the spoiler so had the tailgate treated and repainted, as well as resealing the spoiler. As the tailgate was like new, I put a new genuine sti badge on.
The roof was still looking good.
I updated the audio by installing an Alpine DAB radio with Bluetooth connectivity as well as upgrading the front and rear speakers to Alpine units to match the headunit.
After a routine wash!
Had a service, cambelt kit replaced and uprated the rear anti-roll bar bushes as was picked up on the service with quality parts as always.
I had slight knock from the rear suspension so opted for MeisterR GT1’s and a geometry setup.
How the car sat!
The car sat too low and droplinks were catching on the arms on full lock, so fitted a Hard Race roll centre kit and raised the suspension slightly. Then back for geometry again lol.
How the car sat now!
Freshened up some decals included a Japanese child on board sticker to keep it JDM.
Sat outside work.
A friend at work bought me a led flare to replace the genuine one.
I bought and installed the bonnet struts from the group buy on here.
My wife bought a HT Autos rear diffuser for Christmas.
I had slight lacquer peel on the rear spoiler so it had to be painted.
I decided to replace the 15 year old OEM recirc valve so decided to upgrade it to a Forge Motorsport recirc. At the same time I changed to a RCM 3 port boost solenoid, and had the map tweaked on a dyno. It made really good power for a relatively standard car at 348.9bhp.
A few weeks ago I decided to send off my centre console and outer heater vent rings to be refurbished. I got them back last week and fitted them straight away.
At the weekend I fitted a slightly smaller front plate, and went to Brands Hatch for Go Japan/Tunerfest South. Hope you all enjoyed the update. Thanks!
