Hello all, bit of a lurker on here.

Finally took the plunge and bought this yesterday, I've always wanted one since I was a little kid.

I've got lucky with this one, bodywork is in really good shape, huge spec with absolutely loads of work done to it, along with the history and paperwork to back it all up. The seller told me its previous owner was someone on here.

Very nice, echo the sentiments above, if it ain't broke don't fix it.

I would leave it just the way it is, the splitter will only get stone chips, you may also end up breaking it like so many do.

Just enjoy the car bud.

As for the cars looks, I wanted to stick a high level STI6 spoiler on it, but the one its already got has grown on me so I might just keep it. Still undecided about the splitter.

Other than that though, it's staying how it is! I'm definitely going to enjoy it, I don't commute far, so it's going to get driven everyday instead of being parked in a garage most of the time.

Just going to make sure it gets washed often, particularly the wheels, with winter now here. Also considering options for sealing the rear arches, they are fine now, but you never know when the bubbling will start!

Defiantly keep the original spoiler! There's too many people that take off the subtle classic turbo 2000 spoiler for a high STI spoiler. The underside of my arches have been sprayed with dinitrol 4941 to help keep them protected.

Yeah you have a point there, I've seen less mid level spoilers fitted than STI ones. And I've heard that dinitrol is serious stuff. Did you get yours professionally done or do it yourself? If you got someone else to do it, do you mind if I ask how much it was?

I bought a can of the stuff and did it myself. I just took my rear wheels off, throughly cleaned and degreased the inside of the arches, left it half a day to dry completely with the help of a towel and sprayed the stuff all inside the arches to give them future protection. I got a plastic bag to cover the brake discs but the overspray was hardly anything. 1 whole can was enough to do both arches.

Yes I agree regarding keeping the spoiler. My turbo2000 has had it's sti5 spoiler since they were available as a parts order from Japan (1998 I think), but that was when you hardly saw a jap import. Now I do think about going back even to the original my97 low level (still have it!), but there's a few too many bolt holes in the boot lid now!

Cheers, I've decided it's definitely staying now. I will spray the splitter eventually, but that probably won't be for a long while until the weather picks up. I don't have anywhere to paint it yet!

Get a new boot lid, then you can change them over whenever you want I quite like the low level one, very understated.

I've grown too attached to how mine looks now! My girlfriend said the spoiler was huge, she didn't know this was only the mid level one.

Had a more thorough look through the cars history - 28 service stamps at dealerships and specialists, at 105k!

Got some more snaps, the car coated in a thin layer of motorway muck, and taken at night time of course!

Nice pics. Something to add though if you're not aware of it already... The side skirts and wing mirrors on a V reg 1999 came out of the factory in black plastic so they have either been sprayed later in life to match the car or the first owner requested the dealer to get them matched to the body colour.

Looks brilliant, love the alloys too Do you know what dimensions your numberplate is? Think that one looks a bit better, got to get new ones made up soon as the current ones have the old owners name on them!
