Default Impreza hatch steering wheel

Can anyone tell me if the new Impreza hatch steering wheels will fit the newage cars?

I've checked with the dealer and the nut is the same Pt No but I can't find any details on the spline size.

Any help would be appreciated.

I was wondering the same - there's one going on eBay at the mo. Haven't got an answer I'm afraid. A further question though - does anyone know the diameter on the 08 steering wheel? If it's 350mm and is a straight swap for a new age wheel I'd be mighty tempted.

Must admit the steering wheel is the thing I like least about the scooby. I've got the more recent 375mm one, and it still feels like a bus steering wheel - too wide in diameter and too thin in the rim. I'd have swapped it by now if my driving wasn't so bad that I want to keep the air bag The 08 model wheel might be an answer.

Another answer, which I just stumbled across, is that Zero/Sports have just come out with a replacement wheel that's a straight swap for the OEM one, airbag and all. Even has a Subaru badge, but it's a 350mm diameter with a thicker rim. Details are here:
スポーツステアリング|ZERO/SPORTS | Original Parts Recomend
Just a few problems, mostly stemming from my inability to read Japanese. As far as I can tell the only model available so far is the AT one with cruise control switches, no good for me. More to the point, it's only available in Japan, and with exchange rates, delivery and import duty it'll come out to be 」600 or so. Ouch! Does look good though, hopefully it'll come available over here soon!

Not sure of exact diameters but 4 spoke bus item is about as sporty as Jo Brand. Japanese pages can be easily translated by right clicking on the page and there is a selection to convert into English.

I've been told the splines are the same but I should find out for sure next week.

I'll post when I find out.

The airbag might differ. New Age wheels fit into SRS-equipped Classics, but theyre far from safe.

Got my new wheel fitted which is a big improvement. Only slightly smaller but more chunkier grip and comfortable.

Can anyone help with the airbag connections? The existing ones are yellow/black trace & yellow/blue trace, whilst the 2008 type has yellow/blue & yellow/red. I would like to find out first before hooking it up.

Has anybody fitted one of these wheels or a similar newage 3 spoke wheel?

I'm trying to find out the colour codes of the airbag connections.

Can they be connected to either wire or not? The early wiring diagram shows pins 13 & 14 of the control module but I don't have this info for later models!!

I take it that you have an STi. Do you know if the WRX is the same size?
Is that a dealer(S&S?) supplied wheel or a good e-bay buy.
Fancy the same for my Hawkeye

Got it sorted, no airbag warning light!

SRS-equipped is Supplemental Restraint System (common to newage Impreza's).

The wheel is from 2008 STi Spec C (without the additional control sw's).

I would guess there is no difference between the WRX and STi spline size.

And the user is still active in recent months. Better to bump an old thread than make a new one to be ignored.
