Hi Tony,
Glad Gary managed to sort this out for you.
We had a problem with the 172 "cup" models (back in the day), but do cover them now for experienced drivers. Most of the 172 "cups" we cover these days are often used as track vehicles.
After checking claims statistics across all products at the time and comparing the model against the (full fat) Clio 172, we found that frequency and severity of claims were worse for the 172 "Cup" model (which was a trend that continued).
When analysing the types of claims received, they were largely comprised of hitting other vehicles in the rear, or swerving to avoid this incident after being unable to stop in time.
Comparing the type of accidents with the specification of the 172 model vs the 172 Cup, the lack of ABS in the "cup" model seemed to be the likely cause of the problem at the time.
Kind regards
Tony

That makes sense definitely for the Cup, but mine is the phase 1 so has ABS (I am fairly sure). Will check.
