Default insurance ridiculous!

Been getting some quotes Subaru impreza's classic and newage ones but the prices are stupid!
I am 37 years old have 12 years ncb been driving 18 year done track days, sprints in evo's in past.
Tried getting a quote on a classic 99 limited edition 555 type ra and the best is like £1080! even a standard 05 wrx is near £1000??
currently with Adrian flux on a Focus ST225 and they quoted me for a 99 type ra £1800!

Have a read of this thread

Contact Moley who works there halved my insurance for me this year, can be hard to get hold of at times but worth it in the end.

Try sky, Aplan, green light, pace ward but Gary at Keith Micheals did the best quote for me this year, modified type r with 12k value at £500. Others were around £600 mark

Hi,
I'm surprised we were quite so high. If you wanted to PM me your details I'd be happy to double check it for you just in case.

Dan.

Hi Dan I was surprised to the lady said best quote she could get from an underwriter was £1800. I have only been covered for about 3 month with my ford focus st225 and yourselves my premium is 525! and this is with a declared cat back exhaust system, air filter. My postcode area is rated as an E which isn't great I know but not the worst

Back in the day was with KM and my evo 4 which was modded had a forged engine, exhaust system good mods and my premium was like 700-800! I was about 27 with around 6 year ncb, shows you how much premiums have rocketed!

Regards,

Seems you have been high for quite a few of us, I was with you until May this year, nearly fell off my chair when I opened the renewal, had shot up to £1100

I did however like the online area to view documents and the guaranteed value extra, but when I got like for like cover for £650 from KM it was a no brainer.

Seems to me these days insurance companies don't want to keep repeat business, My A45 AMG is due 1 Sept and directline have rocketed the premium up after another clean year, no mods, turned 40. swapped car from a Leon FR half way through year and in total paid under £700 now they want £1056 for the AMG, do an online quote as a "new" customer and it's £746, jokers.
It also states the policy will auto renew on the 1st September, how many people do they sting like that ??

spoke to them on the phone and had all the blurb about the car, postcode, increased costs etc.. and they could come down a little to around the £1K mark but nothing more, then I asked her to pull up the other quote by giving her the reference number, the line went very quite for a while then was offered to be transferred to customer services.

I told them I would rather search elsewhere rather than know I was being treated like a mug.

I was never one for searching around for hours to save £50, always trusted my broker I was with for years that they were doing the leg work for me until about 3 years ago I had a renewal come, I was with Allianz and it had gone up quite a bit, direct with them was about £250 lower so since then I have moved every year both cars as I never get a good repeat deal, had it with A-Plan (twice, both cars), Adrian Flux, Directline, The AA and Allianz.

Loyalty to customers is long gone!
Pay your premium for the year, have trouble free motoring and don't put a claim in,yet the price goes up!!
Just had my renewal quote from Sky insurance and it's gone up,no surprise there then.
Looks like sky will lose my business if I get a cheaper quote, which is very likely.

For my 3 cars on a multi car policy (P1, A7 and Leon Cupra) came in at £1200 which was £400 up on last year. Got on the phone and got the price down to £600 for the A7 and Leon and had to move the P1 off the multi car policy to another insurer.

There is zero loyalty from ANY of them so I treat them the same way.

I was with SKY with my M3 but they weren't competitive at all on the Scoob. Admiral were the cheapest I found. Up for renewal soon so probably have to shop around all over again.

With Sky Insurance. 6 years NCB on STI Type UK, mods declared. £600. London Borough of Havering postcode, car on drive not garage, policy includes business and commuting.

Seems to remember that Admiral refused us insurance unless we fitted an insanely expensive tracker (old car was with Admiral). Did contact Moley originally, can't remember why I went with Sky in the end tbh.
